Orienteering race 1:03:20 [5] 8.4 km (7:32 / km) +280m 6:28 / km

Qld champs day 2. Started a bit more calmly than yesterday, and wasn't quite in the zone, but just tried to stay concentrated and keep running hard. lost a bit of time getting pushed around in the green on the way to 2, then overshot 5 cos I'd assumed it was on a little side creek where I'd see the control as I ran past, but instead it was tucked down at the bottom of the earthbank. got too high, and just as I was realising my stuff up I nearly stood on an enormous black snake - its amazing how such encounters give you awesome powers of levitation. then had to get back past the snake to run back down the creek. got my shit together after that, and made sure I read the control descriptions.
had a couple more little wobbles, some dodgy map related, but nothing major. generally happy with the run, and pleased (and surprised) to take the overall win by 12mins. hope I can keep some decent form going till aus champs, its been a while since I've felt as good racing.

Orienteering race 25:51 [5] 4.0 km (6:28 / km) +100m 5:45 / km

Qld champs day 1. started the day a bit disorganised, and was late getting to the event. (realised as I got about 30mins away that I'd forgotten the trophy). warm up was running like a headless chook back and forth to the start. picked up the map and realised the first control was straight down into the creek and bolted. bit of a hesitation in the detail in the circle, but it was enough to get my head into gear. took off again and crashed my way around the rest of the course on compass. started dying a bit on the last few controls but just tried to keep running hard to the finish. pretty happy with the run - probably my best race this year, particularly in keeping the speed high for the whole course. great to feel like I was going so fast after the slow marshes of norway!
