Orienteering race 39:37 [5] 4.6 km (8:37 / km) +210m 7:01 / km

Aus relays. 3rd leg. Rachel and Laurina had great runs, and I headed off in 3rd, 5mins behind nsw and vic. figured I couldn't catch them, so just concentrated on not making mistakes and not getting caught. really fun course, liked it better than yesterday cos there were more chances to run faster. caught briony on the last hill, as she was coming back into the control on the bare rock, and then heard that I was just behind tash as I ran down into the spectator control. tried to up the pace, but tash was too far in front, so finished second.

Orienteering race 1:21:51 [5] 8.5 km (9:38 / km) +410m 7:45 / km

Aus long distance champs. main/only tactic was to not make too many mistakes so that it didn't turn into an epic. started off ok, and according to the splits I actually managed to get into the lead for a little bit in the middle part of the course. then caught Amber at 6 and even though I new she was running too high to 8 I got pulled too far to the right. 3mins of wandering around in the thick shit before I found something to relocate off, and then found the control quite easily. got through the rest of the course ok, and took the creek + hill option to the right on the long leg (and had a nice run down the creek with Jenny). messed up a bit on the last couple of controls before the radio by not being careful enough with attackpoints. heard blair announce that I was a minute down at the radio control, so figured I had nothing to lose from there so bolted down the hill and pretty much fell over the second last control, and picked up 3 places in the last controls. reasonably happy with my run, but it would be nice to be able to run a little faster.

Sprint champs. In Benalla. slow and crap. stuffed up the route choice leg, but other than that just ran slow. and it was cold and rainy to really make the day fun.

Break o day. ran the schools champs senior girls course in the afternoon after their race. very fast, but vague for most of the course. had a little wobble on 2, and then stuffed up the second control in the erosion as I didn't read the gullys before the dam wall control right (and Ev had said they might be pulling in some of the far controls, so lack of flag didn't nessesarily mean that I was in the wrong place. stuffed the last one in the erosion also - too far to the left, and there was so much unmarked stuff it was hard to figure out exactly what was going on. biddy caught me about a minute there. ran most of the rest ok, but dropped down too far on the third last and had to nail the last bit to make sure I came in with a faster time than the school kids. didn't make it easy for myself though.
