Note
(sick)

Still sick, but feeling a lot better now that I've had some sleep. Hopefully I'll be back on deck soon.

Caught the red-eye flight home from Perth last night and feel like total crap today. Looks like I'll be taking a few days off training.

MTBO race 21:07 [5] 4.5 km (4:42 / km)
(sick)

Australian Sprint Champs in Perth. Quite a fun area - I think its their state champs downhill course. Very complex track network, and plenty of magpies to distract you while you try and figure out the map.
Still feeling sick, and getting worse after yesterday's ride in the freezing rain.
1st.

MTBO race 1:29:00 [5] 23.0 km (3:52 / km)
(sick)

Australian Long distance champs, Bunbury WA. Woke to screaming wind and horizontal rain, along with an extreme weather warning - 'avoid driving and stay indoors'... surely the race will be cancelled?!
Race was still on, the wind wasn't quite so bad inland, but didn't have any warm riding gear with me, so just wore all the thermals I had (and didn't manage to warm up for the whole course).
The race was mostly ok, and I didn't make any mistakes, but a track that was marked on the map didn't exist on the cround. I ended up losing nearly 5 mins riding around, and lost the race by less than one minute. Put in a protest, to which the jury responded with - 'yes the map is wrong, but we don't care enough to do anything'... not really good enough at a national champs race.

MTBO race 51:00 [5] 14.0 km (3:39 / km)
(sick)

Australian Middle distance champs, Bunbury WA. Quite a cool little course, including a couple of jumps on the way to the start triangle. Nearly collided with Mary a couple of times. 1st, Cath 2nd, Mary 3rd.
