Running 30:00 [2]

Anzac park blob. Hammies tight early on but improved.

Lame walk-jog to fix lame injury 30:00 [1]

Walk to Helen's to drop off some food that got mixed up with ours in the shopping. Then jog home. Glutes and hammies not happy. Good to get out though and feeling a bit better after a couple of days of fuck all

Note

First round of crisis talks at work. Part 1 of survival mode is to drop the wages bill by 20%. So I get a pay cut, but I still have a job. For a while at least.

Just me, the physio and a bottle of pine-o-clean.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Last commute with the dan-derny for a while. His office is shutting after today. I'm not sure how much longer we'll keep turning up for but we're ready to work from home when we need to. The bigger worry is what work we've got on - we're really busy at the moment, but I only have about a month's work lined up and I think this is going to be a minimum of 3 before things start moving again. We survived the crash at the end of the mining boom by cutting about 3/4 of our staff, when heaps of small companies like ours went under completely. This is probably going to be worse.

Note

Boonah had it's first case reported in the last few days. Mum still seems to think that 'self isolation' means 'stay in Boonah'. Considering stealing her car keys and credit card to keep her at home.

Note

practicing working from by spending all weekend writing a report :-(

Running 30:00 [3]

Anzac park plod. good to get out for some fresh air, but body wasn't liking running too much - hardly surprising after sitting at my desk all weekend. quite a few people out but everyone careful to maintain proper distance.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Note

I've been trying to push the OQ management into some discussion regarding what will happen with our events. So far the committee has completely refused to engage and the minimal responses have been dismissive or off on random tangents. very frustrating.
only win is that I convinced (told) mum not to come to orienteering for a while. she's probably still off hanging out with her old & sick friends in boonah though.

Sick. It's been stalking me for a while.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

a bit flat, but fortunately only in the legs and not the tyres.

Note

found more ticks. Had about 100 yesterday.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

OY at a new map near Warwick. Apparently this area was runnable a few weeks ago but was totally weed infested today. If you wanted to be ok with not orienteering again for the rest of the year this would be the run to finish on.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Warm up. R glute tight but achilles ok.
Ruining was ok for the first half hour today but tightened up at the end.

Note

Its been a busy couple of days working out what the corona quarantines will mean for our events. the big concern for our Qld events was that the schools and unis for the sprint weekend couldn't guarantee access, and we also didn't see the point in trying to put on events if people weren't going to be confident enough to book flights and come along. So we've cancelled our NOL sprint weekend. It also looks like we'll be putting our easter back to 2022 so that NSW can run the carnival that has just been postponed. But, with all that we're thinking about combining Easter 2022 in Kingaroy and the gold coast sprint weekend either before or after.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

another flat tyre

Note

for future reference... is running (or cycling) on your own ok if we get told to stay home and self isolate?

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

not raining!
I accidentally ran over a (nearly) legless lizard on the bike path and turned it into 3 pieces. it was dark and there was lots of junk on the bike path, and I only realised that it wasn't a stick as it went under my wheel. i'm sad that I killed it :-(

Note

FB (targeted?) advertising - assisted holidays for people with disabilities. I thought I was going ok, but maybe I haven't pulled up so well from the sprint weekend after all.

pilates 1:00:00 [1]

my pilates instructor is working on a corona inspired playlist. so far it includes 'absolutely everybody' and 'around the world'.
also aparently my dead-lift technique is improving. I was putting too much stretch on my hammys at the start before.

Tuesday Mar 10, 2020 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

another wet commute, but they've cleaned up the bike path today.
learnt from yesterday's cold ride home and wore a gilet. also discovered that my right pedal was in the process of shitting itself, but I'm taking it as a win, cos I found it and changed the pedals at home instead of it falling apart mid ride.

Monday Mar 9, 2020 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

pissing rain. the bike path behind the grammar schools had its semi-regular top dressing with horse shit (I've never seen a horse there, but apparently it got used as a stock-route last night), which combined with the rain meant dodging manure slurry. gross.

Orienteering race 19:58 [5]

NOL 3 at Granite hills. bush sprint! yay! crazy little area with big punishment for not being super careful with compass. fun running with lots of people around. Krystal should learn that I am old and slow these days, and she shouldn't keep waiting for me ;-)

Orienteering race 18:06 [5]

NOL 4 sprint relay at La Trobe. first leg, which is never my favourite. everything was starting to tighten up, so this was run in damage limitation mode. ok area, but the course planning seemed overly convoluted. all the difficulty was in figuring out where the next control was on the map rather than actual navigation... as seen by the number of dnfs.

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [2]

both races

Saturday Mar 7, 2020 #

Orienteering race 20:04 [5]

NOL 1 and WRE at Overnewton. steady race, on par with my very low expectations. 1 mistake - went to the wrong level on 2, as a lot of people did, but I think I got the rest of the route choices. generally tired and legs feeling pretty heavy. didn't want to push it too much with 3 more races.

Orienteering race 19:34 [5]

NOL 2 at Deakin. Much trickier race - picked most of the route choices, except 10, where I got stuck in a dead end. ended up running with Liv for the second part of the course - good motivation to get moving a bit quicker, even if the body didn't appreciate it too much.

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [2]

both races

pilates 1:00:00 [1]

I was the only one to show up to my session. Apparently it has been really quiet all week cos everyone is off panicking and trying to buy toilet paper. Some depressing chats about how long it would take businesses like physios to go under when people freak out and go into hiding.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

OY sprint at UQ gatton. no warm up as I was late starting - I've been looking after samson and cecilia at the sprints so helen can run and my tactic is to get her to run first so she gets the kids when they're tired and grumpy.
Steady run, but its a very fast area and I'm not fit enough for that yet. particularly the extra 10mins. L hammy tightened up a bit and didn't want to stress it out too much.
skipped the warm down cos meetings :-(
