Running long 1:40:00 [3]

spending 90mins waiting for racq and tow truck - $165 racq membership.
getting locked out of you house while your car is being put on a truck, by your housemate who's driving to noosa and won't answer his phone - priceless.

eventually got my run in - cruised past clives to see if there was anyone left from the run to whinge to, but it was too late. headed up through the cemetery to coottha, and up toilet block. found the connecter trail to the other picnic area, then the road to the summit, down frosties and left towards the bridge. got pretty hot, and struggled at the end when I was running in the sun. finished at 10.30, which is way too late to be running at this time of year.

A week of blah. hopefully I'll be better enough to run on Saturday.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

sick. been feeling pretty average for the last month, so not really surprising.

Running long 2:08:00 [3]

spent the weekend at girraween, camping with my parents. ran from the campground to mt norman, with a short detour via castle rock on the way home. petty much all uphill on the way out, and struggled a bit - guess I haven't been doing too much recently. the climb up the granite dome part of mt norman was interesting - its not marked, and 'for rockclimbers only' on the walk instructions. its not particularly hard, but quite exposed and you need a good head for heights. found what I presume to be a geocache on the top.
run home was much easier - steady downhill. 1 snake - rbb at a safe distance. last 10 mins was a bit of a struggle - had been out a bit too long without food or water.
time includes climbing and a couple of photo stops, but did try to not stuff around too much.

Running 45:00 [3]

HFW. accompanied by a fairly agricultural smell most of the way, which I eventually discovered there was cattle train parked through the roma st yards.

Note
(rest day)

looks like I've avoided getting sick, but still insanely tired. should think about doing some exercise this week though.

Note
(sick)

another week of field work in sydney. some big days out in the bush doing water sampling. pretty tired, and feel like I'm getting sick, so won't be doing much in the next few days.

Yoga 1:30:00 [3]

bikram yoga. really humid as well as hot (43), so a fair bit more stressful than the other times I've done bikram. had a bit of a woosy moment about halfway, and about 2 mins later the girl next to me passed out fairly dramatically. was fine once the standing series was done, and felt great after.

Running 20:00 [3]

took a detour through royal np on the way back to the office, and did a short run from bundenna out to the cliffs. would have been great to do a longer run, but didn't have time, and was pretty tired already anyway.

Orienteering race 40:00 [4] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

interclub relays at whites hill. pissing rain and windy. had a bit of a stress as I was organising teams and heaps of people bailed at the last minute, but then some extras turned up and we were only 1 team down in the end. format was 6 short courses with 3 runners, and 2 runners out at each time. I was in a team with ian taylor and winnie oakhill, and ran a red and orange course. had some good runs, and had just caught emily cantwell on my last leg, but then winnie wasn't waiting at the finish, so emilys team got in ahead of us. we were 3rd with 2 UG teams ahead. UG smashed everyone, and we were a bit ahead at the end on percentage. fun in the end, and probably much nicer running conditions than a usual october day.

Running 45:00 [3]

plod with clare and wendy from my place. olly, rachel and mark did a longer run. massive breakfast afterwards.

did a raid on the church fete across the road for fudge, toffee and cake - all for $3!

tired, getting sick (sick when did become 'ill'on ap?), and spent way too long at work this week. allocating a very large proportion of this weekend to sleeping.

Orienteering race 45:33 [4] 6.0 km (7:36 / km) +240m 6:20 / km

Aus Relays. 3rd leg, with Rachel 1st and Laurina 2nd. Still felt pretty flat after yesterday, and was kinda hoping for a bit of a race in the end to get a bit more motivated, but went out in a pretty safe 3rd, decent gap to kathryn and shannon who went out in the lead, but safe margin to vanessa. had a clean run, and tried to run hard, but really didn't have the legs to run properly hard. ok area, but didn't think it was that much better than the stuff in the barossa that it was worth the extra drive. would have been quite happy to have the relay in the same area as aus long. would have loved another run around there!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

warm up. no warm down.

Orienteering race 1:20:58 [5] 10.6 km (7:38 / km) +360m 6:32 / km

Aus Long distance champs - good run, but not great. had a bit of a scare on 2, which should have been an easy control, but managed to overshoot up the hill. got my head into gear a bit more after that, and actually started reading the map properly instead of hoping that running in the right direction would get me there... which backfired a little on the run into 5 when I rolled my ankle quite badly. had to stop for a little while, and had a bit of a moment, but steadily ran it out. never really comfortable running in the rough stuff after that.
ran a few controls with Lauren, including the danger leg down to 6 - very happy to get that cleanly, but really struggled on the long running section in the middle of the course. hestitated and lost about 30secs on 16, but then got the last technical loop ok. again lost a fair bit of time on the slog back home.
pretty happy with how I finished up. there was nothing I could have done about the 6mins to kathryn, but there was a big bunch just behind and a few more little mistakes would have made a big difference.
