mtb fail. rode from Kathy's place, with bec also. bec made it half way up the first hill before her morning-sickness puke fest began, and the a little while later it started pissing down with rain. rode one track, but after more frequent rain and puking we called it quits and went back to Kathys for coffee and breakfast.

longish run from Wendys with the cyclones. ran with clare for most of it. hills were a bit hard, but did ok. proper long run next week.

Hurt, but felt heaps better than last week, and yesterday. at least I felt like I could run today. maybe running fitness is just hiding over a couple more hills.

First session back at Race Elements since october. feeling a bit weak, especially in the arms, but should be back to it fairly quickly. Bec was relatively kind as I hadn't trained for so long.

Ride from point danger to surfers and back, with Dan and Ash. hot and windy day out, but the swim at the end was worth it. breakfast at the dbar cafe was tasty, but served on paper plates with plastic cultery which was crap.

ran anzac park tt course with Wendy, slowly. still really sore, especially in the right hammy and bum muscles, so took it pretty easy, and time was about 4mins slower than I've done for this before.
ah well, in the big bad world of training, at least its a start.

Cycling race 8:21:10 [4] 110.0 km (4:33 / km)

LunarC mtb race at slickers. midnight to 8am. enter this mainly cos they had a girls single speed category. preparation was not ideal.
did manage some bike improvements during the week. borrowed a suspension fork (which has about 50mm travel left on a good day), and got tubeless (which exploded on the bike shop mechanic).
the race time turned out to be pretty good. nice temps for riding, only got uncomfortably hot on the last lap.
new course out at slickers was quite good, with heaps of new single track, but it had at least twice as much climb as previous courses there, which wasn't so great on the single speed. for the first time I've riden there it wasn't muddy, but it was really dusty, and it all stuck to your sweat, so everyone turned into dirt monsters. eyes are still hurting, and mouth and throat feel sandblasted.
first 2-3 hours were pretty good, but then the climbs started getting a bit hard and had to walk a few. then it started getting light about the time I was getting pretty over it, so that helped. last few laps hurt a lot though.
11 laps, one less than the girls solo (with gears) winner, and 2 less than Dan (who won the mens SS).

river loop with Dan and Ungerer. bit faster than the other day, but felt ok after I warmed up. thats training for fridays race done.

lots of new-years-resolutions out running and riding this morning. watching fat people suffer is funny!

had the misfortune of being chatted up by a hubbard in full euro kit (stretched around long range fueltank) trying to impress me by saying he was on his second river loop and had been out since 3am. (thats f-ing slow!) haha. tool.

afternoon river loop. first training in a while. main purpose of this was to get legs and bum kinda used to being on a bike before the race on the weekend.
