Cycling (commute) 1:00:00 [3]

rained on the way in - not enough to get properly soaked from the sky, but enough to be covered in road grime yuck. gross!
ride home was heaps better - no rain and only got 3 red lights (out of 13 - not unusual to get all of them)

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Vibram 5 fingers - speed

short run in anzac park. bit tired after field work all day, and had a dodgy tummy, so cut the run shorter than originally intended.

Running 1:05:00 [3] 10.3 km (6:19 / km)

run with Rachel. on our usual long run loop - which is going to need a re-vamp cos 65 mins is not a long run. beautiful clear morning out - nice and warm at 15C. good thing Rachel turned up and made me go running cos there's a high chance I would've crawled back into bed otherwise!

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

commute. must be getting some fitness back cos the slow hubbard commuters were particularly annoying today.

Running 25:00 [3]
shoes: Vibram 5 fingers - speed

short cruise around anzac park when I got home. cold and windy - branches going everywhere.

hurting.

Note

big day of moving furniture, although managed to leave the really heavy stuff to Dan and Helen. The $16.50 for the lift thing for the truck is possibly the best $$ I've ever spent.

Running long 1:30:00 [3] 13.0 km (6:55 / km)

long run on coottha with Wendy, Mark, Tamsin and Richie. Great morning to be out, and I actually felt like running for a change.
small variation on the usual loop - up toilet block and along telstra, through the gold mine track and around the ring road to the summit. ran down the stairs track to slaughter falls and passed a couple of trailwalker teams near the finish. one team of girls looked exceptionally spritely... except for their 4th runner who was shuffling a long by herself about half a km behind the rest of them. gotta love a good team effort.
yummy breakfast at my place after, including posh home made bread brought by Mark.

Orienteering 15:56 [3] 1.8 km (8:51 / km)

green course of the 5 leg relay. really struggled on the hills.

Orienteering 26:42 [3] 2.5 km (10:41 / km)

short red course of the relay. a bit over it, but this course was a bit flatter, and re-visited some controls. finished at exactly the same time as wendy to be first team in.

Orienteering 43:05 [3] 2.9 km (14:51 / km)

med red and the course we started on. got dropped from the pack at the start cos I totally couldn't run up hills today again, then made a big mistake at 4 and ended up on the wrong spur. compounded this with spending a lot of time lost in an epic lantana thicket. gave up orienteering several times during this leg, and would probably agree with Rachels assessment that this map isn't worth another visit.
Good relay by Clive considering the limitations of the map, and nice to have the sun shining again. Glad our epic weekend of organising 3 races is over. I think it might be quite a few weeks before my next O appearance.

Orienteering race 1:06:11 [3] 7.5 km (8:49 / km)

SEQ 3days - Hagaby at Cotswold, set by Wendy and Rachel. Had a good pack run at the start, with Mark, Steve, Chris and Tim. Running well while things were heading down hill, and ok to keep up while the guys were making mistakes, but struggled running up hill (been feeling a bit seedy the last few days, and was walking on the steep hills). stayed in that group for the first 2 loops, then Mark got ahead and Tim dropped off, so it was just Steve and Chris for the third. Passed Steve a couple of times, but he got ahead through the last few controls and beat me by 15 secs. Really fun course, and great to run in the pack. Also great that the rain held off for the race after a very wet start to the morning.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

commute. legs not as dead as I expected them to be... maybe they were just happy not to be running. busted hand was also fine - sore spot doesn't sit on the bars, so no drama.
ran into Frendo in the city, so had a commuting buddy for the trip back to toowong.

Orienteering race 1:00:16 [4] 7.6 km (7:56 / km)

third classic of bushrangers - pinestars test. much better race, but still lost too much time on little mistakes.

Orienteering 1:22:00 [4]

NZ race #2.
took a while to warm up - still pretty sore from yesterday. brain didn't really join me for this race and made some pretty stupid mistakes from the start. had a short excursion along the wrong track on the way to 3, then stuffed around for ages looking for 3 in the tricky coastal stuff. got in a little group with rachel and bun, but keeping up with rachel was pretty much my only plan on the way to 7, and when I lost sight of her I had no idea. eventually bailed, but then relocated and went and got the control. did a couple more controls, but by the time I got to 9 I was walking and without any food it was all over, so walked back. just feeling too beaten up to run a classic today!

Orienteering race 22:00 [5] 3.0 km (7:20 / km)

2 person relay - in a team with Aislinn. Started ok, but then stuffed #2 by going to the wrong control in the split. was off the back then. caught up a bit and ran with a few people later in the course and finished just behind the other aussie girls. fun race.

Orienteering race 1:07:16 [4] *** 8.0 km (8:25 / km) +150m 7:41 / km
23c shoes: Inov-8 talon212

First race back in woodhill - yay! bushrangers v pinestars test races.
generally an ok run, but not a good race. found that as long as I ran along at a comfortable pace things were all ok, but as soon as I tried to run faster I couldn't keep track of what was going on or tell what was up or down on the map. Kate ran through me on the first loop, and she was going quickly, but not super fast, but I found that there was just no way I could keep track of where I was at that speed, and sure enough, made a massive mistake as soon as I lost sight of her.
cruised around the rest of the course at my own pace (which got pretty slow on the last loop), and avoided any more major errors.

Orienteering race 17:16 [5]

Sprint race at Massey Uni.
This race was a total debacle from the start. We didn't know where to go, or when the event was meant to start, so drove around in stupid circles for ages. then eventually we found it, and the controls weren't out, so we stood around for a while before eventually being told that they were ready for us to start (about an hour late). warm ups were kept pretty short in the cold rain.
the start was tricky - the pre start was quite a distance from the start, with no instruction or taping to get there.
once we got going things improved, and it was a really tricky area for a sprint, and quite well set courses. it was all very slippery thou in the rain, and I took a fall coming into 5, (which apparently got caught on video). kept going at the time, but I'd lost a fair bit of skin off my shin and hip and busted my hand pretty well.
the next hiccup was control 7 in the wrong place - didn't waste too much time, and the nz junior I was running with said he was going to move it to the right place. The rest of the course was much less exciting. a few of the longer legs across the grass were a struggle as the mud was pretty deep. fun course in the end, but a no-race because of the miss-placed control.
