Running 57:00 [1] 10.0 km (5:42 / km)

Very easy run around Toohey forest before our cyclones meeting. Realised that while I've run here quite often, its always been with other people, and I've just followed, and I actually don't really know my way around very well - so lots of wrong turns and dead ends. oh well, nice run anyway!

Wednesday Nov 29, 2006 #

Cycling 1:40:00 [3] 45.0 km (2:13 / km)

River ride with the trolls group. First ride back in Brisbane (since I moved on the weekend), not as scenic as Boonah, but great to be riding with the group again. Coffee at Merlos on George was awesome as usual.
I think my 2 days off after the race on the weekend was a good plan - I generally felt ok this morning, but got toasted on the hills.

Adventure Race race (Teva Final) 8:30:00 [4]

Final of the Teva series at Noosa. Raced with Geronimo! (Thor and Wendy). We ended up winning the womens race, but I don't know how - it was a total disaster. The map was bloody awful, and picking a good run course was entirely based on luck - if you guessed the wrong first control (as we did) you had to do 2 laps of the run leg - which ended up taking us nearly 4 hours.
The special tests were a load of horse shit, and then almost all the teams had to cut the bike leg short to make the cut off. The last leg was the paddle which started off with 3km into a screaming headwind.
The worst organised race I've ever done (and we paid $110 each for the experience)

Saturday Nov 25, 2006 #

Cycling 1:30:00 [2] 40.0 km (2:15 / km)

Out and back to Mt Alford with the group. Coffee in Boonah afterwards.

Friday Nov 24, 2006 #

Running 50:00 [3] 11.0 km (4:33 / km)

Nice easy cruise - taking it easy for a couple of days before the adventure race on the weekend. Legs felt great, stomach was awful.

Wednesday Nov 22, 2006 #

Cycling 1:40:00 [3] 45.0 km (2:13 / km)

Carneys Creek and Mt Alford.
Realised just before I left that my front wheel had some unhealthy sideways wobble - lucky there are 4 other road bikes in the shed for me to steal a replacement off. As James is currently hanging out at a Columbian beach resort, I don't think he'll mind too much that his bike's been raided for spare parts.

Running (Hash run) 45:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Hash run out near Moogerah. Usual chaos, but a nice run around the farm.

Monday Nov 20, 2006 #

Running 1:27:00 [3] 18.0 km (4:50 / km)

Long run around Sugarloaf Rd. Much cooler than last week which was nice, and felt heaps better running. Only started to feel tired in the last 5 mins which was really good - definitely a big improvement on my first long run a week and a half ago!

Sunday Nov 19, 2006 #

Orienteering race 30:03 [4] 4.95 km (6:04 / km)

Park race at Southbank and City gardens. Really good course and heaps of fun, but a bit scary running through the crowds - kids are so random! I also subconsiously decided that the course was too short and ignored 7 on the map and ran straight to 11 (I think I must have read one 1 as a 7) so added an extra km to the course.

Cycling 45:00 [2] 17.0 km (2:39 / km)

Rode in and from the event from Wendy's place. She saw me battling the Toowong roundabout as she was driving home and picked me up just after - rescuing me from having to ride the hill at the start of Mt Coottha - thanks Wendy!!

Saturday Nov 18, 2006 #

Cycling 1:52:00 [3] 50.0 km (2:14 / km)

Usual ride with the usual group. Didn't feel so great this morning, but at least my headache's gone. Nasty road rage incident made things interesting for a while.

Friday Nov 17, 2006 #

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Was planning on going for a run, but had a very bad headache all afternoon :( and yes, I know what chopper would say.

Thursday Nov 16, 2006 #

Cycling 2:30:00 [2] 60.0 km (2:30 / km)

Rode out past Maroon. Very windy and very cold! Can't believe I was wishing I'd worn arm warmers on a midday ride on a sunny day in the middle of November!!

Wednesday Nov 15, 2006 #

Running 1:32:00 [2] 18.0 km (5:07 / km)

Long run out round sugarloaf. Wasn't as sore when I finishd this week, but I guess I ran a bit slower too. Very hot this afternoon - heaps of storms on the horizon, but only hot wind where I was :-(
Ran with a horse for a while - it seemed to have decided that my pace was a lot friendlier than the pace its rider was suggesting, and trotted along beside me for a km or so.
Also discovered that we have a large population of green tree frogs living in the gutters of our house - I was outside stretching just after sunset, and it started raining frogs! The jump out of the gutters onto the concrete!! and then hop off to chase insects! Crazy stuff!!

Tuesday Nov 14, 2006 #

Note

Didn't make it out training today, but went swimming at waterfall gully. Quite nice, but I don't think the creek has flowed for a while and it could do with a bit of a flush out. Hope it rains some more!

Monday Nov 13, 2006 #

Cycling 1:10:00 [1] 32.0 km (2:11 / km)

Slow ride out to Mt Alford with Helen.

Saturday Nov 11, 2006 #

Cycling 1:50:00 [3] 50.0 km (2:12 / km)

Carneys Creek loop with the Boonah group. Felt a bit flat today and quads sore after the last couple of days.
I've been having some problems with very tight hammies, so I moved my seat a bit forward and up this morning. Hammies were heaps better, but quads and calves were working too hard, and didn't really feel like I had any power, so I think I'll go back half way.

Orienteering race 25:50 [4] 4.2 km (6:09 / km)

Park O at Limestone park in Ipswich. Fun course, more interesting than I thought it would be. A couple of controls were a bit dodgy and I lost a bit of time, but I guess thats what you get with these events.
Felt pretty tired, and running up the hills was a bit of a struggle. I think its time for an easy day!

Friday Nov 10, 2006 #

Cycling 2:15:00 [2] 57.0 km (2:22 / km)

Out to Maroon and back. Still a few crazy magpies about - isn't it a bit late now??

Thursday Nov 9, 2006 #

Running 1:30:00 [2] 18.0 km (5:00 / km)

Bit of a longer run today. Just picked a few roads that joined up in the hills behind my parents place. Hurt a bit towards the end, but I think its been quite a few months since I ran more than an hour in training, so I guess its not surprising.
Chucked some ice in the bath and sat in that for a while. Definitely no fun, but hopefully I'll hurt less tomorrow as a result.

Wednesday Nov 8, 2006 #

Cycling 1:40:00 [2] 44.0 km (2:16 / km)

Cruised around the Carneys Creek loop

Tuesday Nov 7, 2006 #

Running 28:00 [3] 6.0 km (4:40 / km)

Boonah Hash Melbourne Cup handicap. I won - prizes were drinks of course!

Sunday Nov 5, 2006 #

Orienteering race 24:00 [4] 4.2 km (5:43 / km)

Park O at City botanic gardens and QUT. Fun course set by Wendy.

Friday Nov 3, 2006 #

Cycling 1:38:00 [3] 43.0 km (2:17 / km)

Mt Alford and Lake Moogerah. Quite a menagerie of road kill this morning - a kangaroo, 2 magpies, a galah, a kitten, a fox, a rabbit, 2 fancy spotted chooks (with 3 others trying hard to join them), a parrot, and about 300 cane toads.

Thursday Nov 2, 2006 #

Running 46:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:07 / km)

cruised around the old mt alford road loop where we found the brown snake the other day. no snakes this time.

Wednesday Nov 1, 2006 #

Cycling 1:08:00 [3] 31.0 km (2:12 / km)
