Long run, on my own this morning. Similar route to last saturday except from the top of toilet block I turned right down to the ring road to run all the way up simpsons falls. the run down telstra was good value - so many pained faces on those struggling up the hill!
Feeling pretty strong through to the end of this one which was good... the sprints this afternoon and tmw morning could be another story.

cyclones Sprint at Nathan campus. had a decent warm up as the legs were pretty tired after this morning. felt like I got going ok though, and the main limitation early on was the combination of short tricky controls and average mapping. my main mistake was a vague out on the forest control, but also lost time with map errors at 4 and 21. picked the wrong shoes and the laces came undone running in the forest.
good run by Winnie, got me by 18 secs today.

night nav at bowman park. only arrive just in time for the start (didn't finish on site till after 5, then traffic was awful), so missed out on a warm up. rookie error - I totally couldn't keep up in mass start and got dropped on the way to 2. struggled on the hills, and didn't feeling like I could get going till the last few controls. oh well.

Run out to coottha to check out the flooded creeks after the cyclone went through. The first part up to Simpsons falls with Dan, then he turned around and I ran up Simpsons, along the top of the ring road and back down through frosties. The council trail destroyers have been busy. most of toilet block is now a highway and a big section of frosties as well. soon there will be no decent tracks left. The creeks were all up and there were a couple tricky crossings.
I was pretty slow for most of this - only started to get going after an hour, and then died again at 1.30. Not surprising really, the only other things I'd managed all day were a long sleep in and about 5 hrs of naps.

I think my garmin is massively overestimating climb, so I'm just going to half what it says.

sanity run around anzac park in the dark and rain. really nice to be out in the (relatively) cool conditions - 25C and 95% humidity. It was sort of raining, but the rain just seemed to be forming in the surrounding air rather than falling from the sky. Its only going to get soggier in the next few days, apparently that cyclone has turned into a pretty serious storm.

Run home from work. Warm afternoon and running into the sun for a while along coro drive was tough. Calves were a bit unhappy early on after the weekend's silliness.
My legs are obviously not used to this kind of steady running on hard surfaces as everything started to tighten up a bit for the last third.

I like doing this run as its a much nicer way to get home from work than driving... just a pity that getting to work to set it up is a bit convoluted.

Evening run on Coottha. Up through the cemetery and art trail track, then a quick pause to watch the fading sunset from the summit and back down via the slaughter falls track and the cemetery. calves a little sore after yesterday's sprint, but generally felt like I was cruising along ok.

Lets see how 8 hrs of bailing groundwater bores goes as preparation for a sprint race... at least running doesn't involve arms cos they definitely don't work anymore.

Cyclones sprint at QUT kelvin grove. Fun course set by Mat, with plenty of controls on different features to the ones we normally end up using. seemed to alternate between relatively easy and quite tricky so it was hard to get into a routine. Legs felt surprisingly not awful (I guess they must like the lack of long run to back up from). still a fair bit to work on before the first NOL.

cruise around Anzac park. half way through a big week of drilling so pretty tired and dehydrated to start with. quite slow to start with but better in the second half. spent the run contemplating the implications of an email I was forwarded today which has the potential to swallow most of the next 2 years of my existence.

Hot yoga class. I think it was a bit tougher than usual, but it could also have been that I was really tired and dehydrated after a long (and particularly unsuccessful) day of drilling.
hips and hammys to start with, then heaps of ab work and lots of arm balances at the end. managed some forearm balances which I haven't done in a while.

Thor's birthday run. big group, and a bit slow (except when I tried to keep up with James). it was a really nice run, but ended up being very stop start - including a stop for cake and champagne (except for Clare, who hadn't read the memo and bailed pre cake stop).

massive breakfast of savory and sweet waffles afterwards. so yummy!

plod around anzac park with Dan. had a stop at the chin up bar and got completely shown up as Dan's first set was 15. pace was friendly until the last few hills and ended up with an all out sprint up the hill on Elizabeth St.

Got stuck at work late so didn't make it to night nav as planned. Did a lap of anzac park instead. Had hoped this would be a bit of a head clearer, but had the opposite effect and ended up a bit angry at the universe... but hopefully that's done with now and I can get some sleep for a change.

Orienteering 40:00 [3]

checking control sites and oob areas at uq for next week's race. time well spent! legs a bit ploddy to start with but got going in short spurts and handled the bazillion stairs ok, which was a bit of a surprise after yesterday's outing.
