Crathes: Green. First half of the course orange standard, so fast and a bit disappointing. Still a nice day for a fast run around the woods. Lost the tapes between the last control and the finish control which was a weird leg to finish on, and had to stop and look really closely at the map to work out where to go.

Hill of Fare Race up Mither Tap: Very enjoyable race. Nice clear evening, a bit windy which kept the midges away, even in the woods. Sucessfully tried to keep cadence high on the climb, and was back and forth with Richard Ingram on the way up, but he sped away on the descent. Also got overtaken by Katie H on the way down - there's a very steep and rutted bit just before entering the woods where I lost some places - I wonder if there is a safer, faster line slightly to the right of where I went. Maybe try that next time..

About a minute slower than 2016.

Unfortunately stubbed a rock and took a tumble on the track about 200m into the race. Maybe was too close to the person in front and not seeing the upcoming track well enough. Was grateful to accept a hand-up from a generous competitor that got me going again and so only lost a few seconds. A bit grazed-up and sore now.

Hill intervals: 4x2 minutes,1 off, then 10 X 1 min up to top of Baudy Meg.

Felt good tonight, and keeping up better than most of the year. Garmin seemed to think so, too, which upped my vo2max estimate to 51, the highest value it has ever given me! Weight also the lowest this year.
