Skiing- downhill 1:30:00 [1]

First time downhill skiing! Started distasterously on something a bit too steep and spent about the first hour fallen over in all sorts of strange positions sliding about on the kids slope totally out of controll.. Tobias was a very patient teacher but must have been despairing a bit as he loves skiing. But I gradually got the hand of turning corners and started to enjoy it though my legs were soon pretty tired and wobbly. At least I have the emergency stopping technique down pretty well- fall sideways into the slope and dig ski edges in... Impressed but demoralised by the skills of the 3+ year old kids I was skiing with! And had a massive laugh at the memory of Tobias once telling me there is always work in Switzerland as a skiing instructor for kids! Will be back for more next weekend as there is heaps of snow and ski slopes everywhere.

Uphill hike in the snow with Tobias with the wooden sled, then exhillarating scoot back down on the road. Muscles still extremely sore from XC skiing, especially on the slippery ground.

commute w detours. scary riding whilst its snowing!
Night walk and sledding attempt (not enough snow on the street).
V sore muscles from xc skiing, really hobbling.

Beautiful XC skiing at Studen. Pretty hopeless technique - will need lots of practice. More like walking on skis than running at the moment... actually walking would have been faster!
