orienteering race 37:59 [4]

World Cup (Nordic Tour) Middle distance in Oslo.
Started quite well in some nice scandinavian forest with contour details and some rock, though could have been more decisive/confident (=faster). Made not such a good route on the long leg to #10 taking a track which lost me 5contours without me really realising and having a very slow uphill approach through slow forest when there was a track leading most of the way on the other route. Then dropped more time on the easier legs through the tracked area to the finish at the ski centre- not efficient or fast enough.
In general navigation was ok in that I didn't lose contact but that's not good enough at this level- I needed to be more confident with better flow, and to pick fast running routes (lost time in a few places getting stuck in thick forest cutting between tracks etc when I could possibly have gone around).
Achilles/calves bothering me alot before the start so I was not as confident in the terrain especially up hills, and was lacking oomph as a result. Not very happy.
46th/49 9mins down on Simone.

long warm up 20+mins, i think achilles felt better after some anti inflams and good warm up
5mins warm down, hurting again

World Cup Sprint (Nordic Tour) Oslo
Sprint with a mix of forest/tracks and two areas of buildings. My run was OK but not quite sharp enough- lost 20secs on a couple early on (one poor RC and hesitations) and lost some time on the long downhill leg in some rough terrain (thats where my achilles bothered me the most as I didnt feel confident). Anyway a few small time losses was too much for a quality and tight field so I didn't qualify, though I was happy to catch the two girls infront.
42nd/49 2:30 behind Tove

Right achilles and calves sore in warm up. Luckily didnt notice too much in the race. Good warm down and stretch.
