Ilka and I forced ourselves out for a run before the ugly hangover fully hit. Ran along the yarra- Kaynes bridge to pipe bridge loop with some extra at the end. Great to get out and do something despite feeling shit.
Also managed a huge and delicious lunch at the convent after, and bought some jewlery at the markets, before crashing out.
And dammit my poor bike is still in carlton where i forgot about it lastnight...

20+20 up Merri ck with Ilka to street O and back. Rode through a few sections of track under almost half a metre under water!

Street O in Coburg- around Merri Ck which was flowing at an excitable rate. very wet, rained the whole time and the place was sodden, but a fun adventure. Orienteering wise, it took me 3mins to figure out where I was in the meanwhile I was following a bunch till it clicked. Had trouble keeping count of how many I had got, but it came together in the end. Not super hard cos I didnt know where i was going often. also v slippery

Run up Merri Creek. It was lovely and I felt good, starting to feel like a runner again, rather than a plodding hack. Ran mostly on (very wet) grass and dirt track. Ran up and down a few of the little hills along the track for some undulation. Left knee was a tiny bit stiff in the last 2mins!

Lovely damp morning, though the air was not so fresh as I approached Footscray due to a burning warehouse very near work. Could smell burning hair all day and on the way home.

Have been stretching lots lately too.

After work, at Brunswick Baths (nice outdoor 50m pool).
Finally I have come up with a way of counting that doesnt make me feel stressed about losing count: I counted days of the week with each day being up and back. Wednesday I did breaststroke, the rest freestyle, and after friday I had a 5min rest for the weekend.
Did three weeks of this, or 3X500m.
About 10mins per 500m, maybe longer on the last one. Next time I will take my watch to time so I can see how I improve each week (I hope, though it will probably be more about improving my turn around time!)
Enjoyed this swim alot.
