Running race (City to Bay) 53:59 [5] 12.0 km (4:30 / km)

I was aiming to run under 54mins(4:30m/k) Started in the under 50 mins start but still had alot of slower people to dodge for the first 2k (8:52). Felt pretty fast through to about 8k and was on about 35:25 then it got a bit slower through to the last k because of the wind and I was starting to suffer. Ran the last k quite fast and almost threw up when i smelt the subway at the end..
Didnt really get to stick with anyone but just tried gradually overtaking people and racing my watch to the next km.
Lauren and Rio were right behind me for most of it and I had no idea till they popped up beside me at 8k! Quite a few people at the end said they used me as a marker most of the way, so I thing out arrows tops stood out!
HR was about 184 for most of it and went over 187 for the last few km. my watch ran out of memory so I couldnt take splits

Actual time I found out is 53:59 !! Made it by a second!

Note

Total about 5.5 hours paddling, some parts of the creek were really choked with reeds and instead of paddling we were bush bashing with paddles.. other parts(most) were beautiful wide lagoons and creeks.
great fun but arms reeeally tired and back is sore....

Note

Had a midweek weekend, up on the murray.. was awesome, Iv never gone on an overnight canoe trip and definately want to go again. There ewere so many creeks and lagoons and really good camping spots.
not really training...but pretty hard effort!
