Running 20:00 [1]

Since doing so little training, I may as we'll keep AP updated for completeness, für running st least.
First run since woc. In Kyrgizstan along little water channel coming from distant snow capped peaks. Dusty roads, gardens full of apricots and raspberries.

Note

A different sort of O map! Tobias and I are tracking our journey and adding pics etc on our travel map blog:

https://everywhereinbetween.travelmap.net

Tonight we're heading off to southern Kazakhstan via 3 nights on a train!!

Note

Tobias and I are on our way!
First stop Moscow, arriving tomorrow morning with the overnight train from Riga!
It's going to be a full on few months of travel, and I don't think I'll be logging any training.. I chucked my running shoes this morning for as light a pack as possible!

I'm really happy I made it to WOC in the end this year, and really pleased with my middle race. Also looking forward to running in Aussie terrain again soon!

orienteering 44:00 [4]

Went out to one of the spectator races - lovely open pine, flattish with bit very wet marshes and some nice contours. Very energy sapping ground to run on though, felt pretty tired!
Although this terrain was much more beautiful than the WOC terrain, I think the terrain we had made for much tougher and more interesting races.

Long day spectating relay.

riding 3:15:00 intensity: (2:30:00 @1) + (45:00 @2)
slept:7.0

Hired a bike to see a bit more of Latvia!
Really nice dirt tracks up the river* from Sigulda to Ligatne, peaceful forest and fields and little farms. Rode very easy and had a few half hour scenic stops.
I planned to get a train back from Ligatne but realized the train station was 10km away in Augsligatne, where I discovered that there wasn't a train for another few hours so had to ride all the way back to Sigulda. So it ended up much longer than I planned.

*not the embargoed side!

Running 10:00 [3]
rhr:49 slept:8.5

Warm up, got drenched.
Felt a bit nervous but not too much.
Also cold mostly gone.

orienteering 37:00 [5]

WOC middle. Plan was as usual to have a controlled run, not be phased by the low runnability/visibility and be disciplined with compass. Managed to do all that and ended up 23rd which i was very pleased with!! Very close to top 20 but I needed a bit more kick on the hills at the end.
A nice result to end to my time in Europe I guess!

Note
rhr:51 slept:8.0 (sick)

Very blocked head and in the arvo my body felt tired, but no fever or anything and sore throat gone.
Had another hour long arvo nap..
9 AM

orienteering 40:03 intensity: (6 @0) + (11:04 @1) + (13:20 @2) + (15:01 @3) + (32 @4) 3.91 km (10:14 / km) +72m 9:23 / km
ahr:136 max:152

Morning middle model. The start was at a beautiful Latvian country house with incredible an incredible garden! The forest impressed me less.. very green and a lot more flat areas than the other trainings.
Did a bit more than I had planned bacause I wasn't very good with compass an kept on trying to do it better.
Physically felt quite good, probably because there were no hills...

Note
rhr:50 slept:8.0 (sick)

Very sore throat and blocked head, had an arvo nap and skipped going into town for the sprint fina so I could rest.

stretch/yoga 15:00 [0]
rhr:48 slept:7.5

Evening yoga in the forest. Nice. Somehow the smell of the forest reminded me of Australia, must be the dryness. Quite a lot of wilted shrubs.

Running 5:00 [3]

Walk and a leg stretching jog.
Suddenly got a sore throat in the evening :(

Running 9:23 intensity: (5:41 @1) + (2:47 @2) + (55 @3) 1.72 km (5:28 / km) +3m 5:25 / km
ahr:131 max:148 slept:8.0

orienteering 42:11 intensity: (2:22 @1) + (1:30 @2) + (6:08 @3) + (32:11 @4) 4.33 km (9:45 / km) +62m 9:06 / km
ahr:157 max:169

3x O intervals with boys chasing 2&3mins behind. Good to go a bit harder but felt a bit dead on the hills because of the heat.
Need to be flexible with routes depending on runnability, and be diciplined with direction on slopes.
Almost poked out my eyes a few times..
10 PM

stretch/yoga 25:00 [0]

Evening yoga. Bit of pressure in my head, when going upside down etc, but this helped.
