Middle training race, Bedero. Was fun to orienteer hard again and I was pretty happy with my run.
One downhill exit direction mistake (on a control I set!) and one dumb stopping too early mistake because I was tired running up a hill. Felt good in the terrain but slow on the ups.

Astano control picking. First map I ever run on in Europe, 13 years ago! Vividly remember discovering how spiky chestnut shells are and being really excited that Swiss-Italian border fence ran through the map (a very knarly old barbed wire fence, up to 2 meters wide and high but with many gaps which are mapped).
Setting controls, shadowing, collecting controls, followed by swim #2 for the year :)

5x4mins hills 1min rec up Uetliberg, and another 3x1min to get me to the top. Focused on pushing through my legs and lazy glutes.
Probably the most beautiful snow run of the winter, magical forest with at least one cm of snow clinging to every single twig!

Rather unmotivated XC ski Savognin-Tinizong in really bad snow conditions (heavy slush with a coating of fresh snow). Nice to be out I guess, it felt like a ghost town!
Training this week was a failure.. a few days off with the cold and then the rest of teh week disappeared into a black hole of work, which isn't going to ease much in the next couple of weeks. I'll plan a bit better so I fit everything in..

Sauliamtler OL. I think my first O since the World Cup at the start of October.. and my shoes had been on the balcony still with laces taped since then..
Not my favourite terrain (mittelland with lots of tracks) but have to start training my O brain up again. Went at a steady pace, it didn't feel like racing, and focused on good technical orienteering process. A few times lost a bit in bad vegetation/dumb shortcuts and two control circle errors of up to 30 secs.
The forest was more enjoyable than I was expecting and having 23 controls made it interesting enough :)

Found out about this weekly friday night Sri Chinmoy run series, in winter on the track in Wiedikon, alternating 3km/2mile.

Two miles on the track but I timed it like a 3km with an extra 200m tacked on the end. Felt great for the first 400m, but waay too fast and died after.. novice error ;)
Didn't think or look at the time too much and just tried to push steady, and would have been disappointed with over 13 for 3k, but happy with this as a starting point. Noone else running around my speed (only 10 runners all up) but it still really helped having people there and someone reading lap times. Gotta do a 5k next week..

Skiing at Madrisa with Tobias and Eef. First ones on the lifts up! Legs didn't get nearly as tired as usual and technique was a bit more relaxed :)
An absolutely amazing day - white powder, blue skies, incredible mountain views!

After a quick lunch we changed to cross country skis for a bit around Klosters. We quickly got too warm in a thermal so we ended up skiing almost the whole time just in sports bras. It felt so wonderful :)
Probably skied faster with Eef than I would have alone which was great. Would have been nice to go longer actually.

A little late night skiing adventure with Jas and Eef! Skied from the holiday flat in Klosters Dorf up the Schlappin valley, on the freshly prepared piste :)
So magical!! It had just stopped snowing and everything seemed to be glowing- definitely didn't need head torches, even for the ski down! I think having a few glasses of wine makes me ski better..

I was about to go to bed grumpy after a frustrating and unproductive day, but decided to go for a late night run under the full moon instead. Good choice! Really magical with the moon reflecting of the snowy landscape, and looking down on the hazy lit-up fog over Zurisee. I kind of wanted to keep running all night!
Ez pace because it was slippery. Still have a bit of a cough and cloggy throat.
