Felt extremely tired this evening, wlk down to the lake felt exhausting, so beautiful there though :) I guess in still recovering from the iron infusion? Planning to start training again but not until I don't feel abnormally tired.

Nooo, we have a four day long weekend and perfect summer weather, and my body seems to have retaliated against the iron infusion on Monday :( :(
Woke during the night with aches and chill and fever, and feel so weak I can barely get out of bed.
Almost exactly the same as the last time I had the larger dose in December 2014, symptoms came 2 days after the infusion. I wish they hadn't given me the larger dose again.. Never again.

Zimmerberg OL, Sprint Horgen. Junior selection races but I got a run in after :)
This was the awesome kind of sprint I love where pretty much every control had demanding route choice and navigation. I was a bit messy in the beginning (was trying to find myself on the wrong side of the map) but improved as I went, and had heaps of fun running.

Note

So I'm not running WOC this year for the first time since 2010! I think it is the the right decision, in a way I am relieved, as I'm not fit enough to do it justice and other girls have worked harder for it. Running in at the end of the WOC middle last year I made sure to especially enjoy it, in case it was my last (knew I wasn't really enthused about the terrains for 2017 or 2018).
And this year work has the place of highest priority.
But I am going to have a good crack at the world cup final in Swiss Alpine terrain at the end of September. First I have to sort out my iron and stay healthy, and then spend the summer running around mountains :)

Note

Iron Test from last week back. Ferritin very low 10 (normal range according to new doctor 30-150), last time this low was 2013. No wonder my body didn't love the races on the weekend.
I have been taking tablets most days but not very effective. Have to decide now between expensive iron infusion which mightn't last and more/different tablets and more disciplined eating.

Estonian Long selection race
The course was a trial of the 90min winning time for women, in very tough terrain, but I was physically in no state for it.
I had no strength and my body just wouldn’t respond when I tried pushing harder, and along with my blocked ears which became painful after halfway, my concentration wasn't great.
I made 3 mistakes of a few minutes each due to lack of concentration and in the second half was just struggling to finish. The kilometer long run through an epic swamp valley at the end was the last straw, but in hindsight was kind of funny in a laugh/cry way..
Positives? I persevered and also navigated pretty well in the trickier flatter green parts. Also I saw heaps of random trees which had been felled by beavers which was cool, some parts of the forest were full of beautiful purple flowers, and I had an amazing sauna and swim at the end.

ahr:170 max:177

Estonia middle selection race
Very physically tough terrain, steeper than I was expecting, and technically not overly difficult.
I had a pretty clean run so have to be happy with that. On four controls I was maybe 10-20 meters off, and one route choice was possibly too cautious otherwise good. The rest of the time loss was physical. I felt pretty terrible especially in the hilly second half, extremely weak in the terrain/hills and when I tried to push harder there was nothing there.

Estonian sprint selection race
In general didn’t have enough intensity physically or mentally. Not super tricky but made a wrong route and two errors from head not being focused 'in the moment'.

Worse today, head is really blocked a very mild fever and slightly cold/achey body. Had been hoping to go to O training in the evening but by arvo decided it was better to rest.
I guess I should go to the doctor next week if still an issue, even though it feels kind of feeble going to the doctor for a blocked nose, it has been bothering me on and off since mid feb.
