Orienteering race (SHI Relay) 1:00:55 intensity: (44 @1) + (21:11 @2) + (39:00 @3) 8.6 km (7:05 / km) +114m 6:39 / km
ahr:162 max:173 (injured) shoes: inov-8 oroc 280

Ankle wasn't good but couldn't have lived with myself if I didn't manage to finish a race so used a lot of ankle tape and got ready to run. Hit the first two cleanly so despite only being able to run at a reduced pace I was still in contact with the other runners, then made a couple of small misses though and was well off the back. Then ran clean until the final loop where i lost two minutes on each of the last two tricky controls.

Unfortunately Ed had stubbed his toe and couldn't run so we didn't have a full team but at least I got around a course for Wales.

Orienteering race (SHI Individual) 43:57 intensity: (9 @0) + (1:46 @1) + (31:01 @2) + (11:01 @3) 6.01 km (7:19 / km) +153m 6:29 / km
ahr:158 max:170 (injured) shoes: inov-8 oroc 280

Was really up for this, started fairly well and hit the first control cleanly, picked a good exit and was checking what my next contact point would be when my ankle went. Not too bad I thought I would just run it off and gave it a go but just couldn't manage the rocky, tussocky ground, eventually grounding to a halt at control 6 from where I limped home.

Massively disappointed to end my Wales debut this way.

Must be a record slowest time for this loop, lacking any energy. Planning a big feed tonight in the hopes of an energy boost for tomorrow.

Still feeling rubbish but moving okay, helped considerably by the mostly downhill route. Just can't shake this cold...

Little jaded from the race yesterday but Rivelin perked me up. Couple of points worth noting.

- hamstrings a bit tight
- slight calf niggle

Both of which suggest that my glutes are not working so will try to be a bit more aware of that and do some remedial work.

- surprisingly low max hr considering the tough hill up from Rivelin
- still have some cold symptoms

Both suggest that my immune system is still battling so need to be careful to take it easy this week (at least until the weekend).
