O race (o forest) 1:01:08 [5]

My legs were tired for this one. A 2 hour ride over with fully loaded panniers meant I wasn't going go very fast. This was still a pretty good run though. No big mistakes.

My route to #7 took me through a lot of heather. As a result, I seemed to have lost time there.

Leaving #7, I used the veg boundary as a handrail, but that meant more heather. Should have gone straight south. I lost more time close to the circle for #8. It was hard to see the map in the gloom and didn't realise there were lots of clearings or a little path, so I cut in too early when I saw the first clearing.

Exiting #8, I thought I might be able to stay high, but the stream looked too dodgy to cross.

O (O open fell) 53:43 [3]

Legs were a bit tired from the ride to the event. Up Kirkstone Pass on The Struggle. Not very far, but very steep. A long uphill walk to the start probably evened things out with everyone though.
Much better run than yesterday. Conditions were more benign, which meant better visibility which helped me with map contact massively.
I learned my lesson from yesterday and played it safe when things started to look vague. So, lost a little to #4 and #7 by keeping high and aiming off. Happy with how I executed though, even if straighter was a bit quicker.
Only out of the top ten on a couple of splits and happy with my route choice and execution.
