O race (Forest O - long) 2:24:45 [5]

There were some positives here. For quite a lot of it, I was in control and running ok. I enjoyed the longer course (when I wasn't making mistakes!)

Couldn't see the path to the east of #2 between the OOB hatching and the olive green. Everyone else saw it. Second day that's happened and I looked hard for a path. Actually didn't cost me too much though.

Re-entrant NE of #8 was hard going. Should have looked for a path.

Map showed #9 to the NE of the clearing, but the cleared area was much larger on the ground.

First big mistake to #11. Poor bearing and lack of focus, meant I missed the earth bank. Thought I was south of the control. Struggled to relocate. Sloppy. Lost about 6mins.

#17 was a learning experience. Should have chosen the simpler approach from the N. Would have led me into the control. Should have been able to execute with my approach though. Was going to contour round onto the control. Stayed too high and didn't turn N. Was too far up the re-entrant and was trying to make all the wrong things fit. Up and down, making the same mistake each time. Finally just went N along the top of the spur onto the control, which is what I should have been doing. Probably lost 20mins. Woeful.

Wasted so much energy on #17 that I wasn't going so well after that.

O race (Middle) 58:16 [4]

The opposite of yesterday. Steep slopes, lots of controls and quite technical. My aim was not to be last, which I just about managed! Not clean, but no big mistakes and I never felt completely out of control. And a few good legs. So, not bad.

The start kite was a long way round the path from the start and I assumed I'd run past it, so it took me even longer that usual to get my bearings. There was another control on the route to #1 which threw me off as well.

Not a great bearing away from #7 and then got drawn to another control. Lost about 60s

Lost track of which path a was on to #15. Sloppy and not pace counting. Again got drawn to a wrong control.

Another close but wrong control to #20. I should be getting bonus points for the extra controls I visited!

Bit cross about #21. I didn't see the path through the purple hatching on the map. After I'd run round, and I saw people running through, I still couldn't pick the path out and was flustered finally locating the control. Lost about 3mins.

O race (Sprint) 18:58 [5]

Good start to the jk for me. This is the kind of event I do best at. Simple nav, no climbing, short and fast.

My running was good and no mistakes. Only lost a little time.

Usual slow start to #1 really shows up against strong competition.

Tripped and fell on way to #7. About 5secs.

Over the top to #18 looks longer than round the bottom now I look at it.

Didn't see #23 immediately when in the circle. About 5s.
