Taxinge lÄngdistans
It was okay, but not great.
Going fine until the edge of the circle to #1, just rushed and didn't think to double check what I was doing and went out of the gully way too early, such a stupid thing to do. Then tried to relocate, gps shows me going right past the control but didn't see it. Getting confused because of this because I was where I thought it should be, so did an extra bit of a loop and came back to it to find it there. Which cost me 4 mins, so stupid. Need to have a better process for making mistakes and be calmer. Got thrown off by some other people heading into #2, and didn't check my compass/contours so lost another minute on what should've been a relatively easy control.
Settled a bit after this and was orienteering better, though can some hesitations towards the end of the long leg to #4 as direction wobbled a bit through the flat vague part and didn't change my direction to take the safer entry even though I had planned to. Exit out of #4 wasn't very good either so lost some 40s somehow correcting. On #6, didn't read the contours properly and go to the top of the hill, just lost all confidence when I got to the edge of the hill and stopped and hesitated heaps which was so dumb because I was right there at the top, another minute gone here. Lost 10s or so going into #10, started hesitating too early.
So lots to learn from and some positives. I think I'm a bit mentally tired of orienteering after 2 months of racing every weekend, obviously can't blame all my mistakes on this but I think its part of it. And physically tired too. So time for a bit of a break before the next training block.

10-Mila test
Not great, need a bit of a break for my head + body.
Mentally, needed to push myself more but also need to get back into good orienteering habits/new technique after reverting back to the old over the weekend. Generalising and simplifying then visualising, reading the contours, exit features and working backwards with routes.
Physically, knees were sore from about 10mins into warm up, and just got worse and worse as I kept falling on them. Fell about 3 times on the way to the first control and it didn't stop there. Maybe I let this distract me a bit but also I think I just need to let them recover properly. Need to build up strength through the terrain.
But basically lost time in the circle for most of the first half, and over ran #4 by a bit, then was behind and thought I was way further than I was, let myself get into a slow speed then actually got super far behind.
But as always things to learn from this, though I am going to make sure I recover properly before the weekend.
