Mila by Night #1
Bit of a failure, aim was to run hard and follow the front girls and just get a good physical workout from it and not worry about the orienteering.
Not good at this and was off the pace from the start - a combination of looking at my map too much so not running hard but also tired physically and just couldn't push. Front girls were out of sight just before the first control. Didn't find the first control, though I was super close to it but didn't really realise and then didn't bother searching for it, or going to #2. Went down to the track, double checked where I was just to be sure and was contemplating just going straight to #5 but ended up going to #3. Not the best route there but I knew where I was the whole time and then the group who had started 5 mins after caught and ran through me there so I stayed with them for a bit. Getting tired now so got to the circle for #4 but didn't go searching because I was too lazy to go up the hill and same for #5. Then decided to go straight to #8 which was again on the top of a hill so didn't end up actually going to it. Across the paddock where the eventual winner caught and overtook me but stayed with her for #9 and #10 which were fine, as was #11. Skipped #12.
Fun, but came out feeling like I hadn't really gotten much out of it.
Have some different things to think about and focus on for next time though so hopefully can make that better.
