Smålands Kavlen
2nd leg - night.
In the snow!! Which made it so much brighter, so good!
Run was alright, spent time being extra careful and cautious. In general doing the right things I think - reading contours and using compass well which was good. I guess the dark really forces you to use the important things.
Lost time on #2, didn't check exit direction well enough and #3 could've also been a bit smoother had I been using compass better.
Cold but lots of fun! A really nice weekend away with the other junior girls was the best end to the season!

Hill intervals with the club.
10 x 1min up with roughly 2mins jog down recovery.
Started pretty conservatively then after the first three was pushing to get ahead of the group I was with. Took a longer break after the 6th to wait for the faster girls so I could run the next 4 with them which was a lot better - next time I’ll just start with them I think.
Really good sesh and super fun having a good big group to run with!

Long training at Bjerkeskogen
Feeling pretty pumped for this and ended up enjoying this session the most of them all. Just thinking and running better which made it more fun.
Pretty cold morning, forest was still covered in frost when we had finished!
Nice to end the camp on a high.

Pampas Night sprint relay at Karlbergs Slott
Wasn’t sure if we’d make it back from Norway in time to run but knew the team was missing two runners so I was super set on making it! Missed the first train and then a quick outfit change while we waited for the next one, then power walked w all our bags to the arena from the station. Numbers on and straight into the changeover box.
A fun sprint around the park and military base with heaps of people around. So hard to switch between reading map and looking up etc without a headlight.
Finish chute was super cool bc it was lit by little candles!
Super fun and we ended up winning wooooo!!

Prologue with mass start at Gillingsrød
Started okay then stuffed #3, just not being careful with contact of compass so lost all confidence and a heap of time here. Everyone overtook me here so after that wasn't really concentrating much or pushing at all. Brain wasn't very switched on yet I don't think. Orienteering wasn't great at all this course.

Chasing start middle
Heaps better than the prologue, thinking a lot straighter and got better as I got into it and regained my mojo a bit. Definitely lots to improve, certainly a lot to work on in terms of macro and micro route choices. And entries into controls.
This part of the forest also seemed a lot nice than the other part.

Short training as model map
First control fine, then got halfway to the second and started hesitating sooo much, after I found it I bailed on the rest of the exercise and went to the next map.

Orienteering 37:56 [3] *** 3.41 km (11:07 / km) +43m 10:28 / km

Rerunning WC Prologue at Kirkebygden
First control bad - bad route coupled with bad execution was never going to go well. Relocated several times but never found the tape so then attempted to find the second. Similar story, had bad contact too.
Got to the third and restarted. Then remembered how I orienteer half way to the fifth control and things were a lot better after that.
We all got a fit freaked by the fake animal shooting targets out in the forest.

Long training at Gillingsrød
Felt heaps better mentally than yesterday and map was super nice especially the last part. Mostly navigating well, picking good routes and lines. Mistake in the circle at #1, think partly from trying to read the detail, partly from interpreting what was and wasn't on the map and on the ground and partly because the purple lines weren't cut over some of the detail. With Elizabeth and Barbora for parts so was good to see what lines they were picking and where I was gaining and losing time.
Would've been nice to do more of the course because it was just so nice but was trying to be sensible and knew that I still had another few days of the camp to get through.

Middle training at Veum on the other side of the road.
Mostly good bar two controls. #4 started getting super hesitant early on even though I was fine and knew it, I think just a bit distracted because when I got to the rock I didn’t even see the tape and just stood there for a few mins confused. Then I cut to #11 but got super confused by the felled area and contours. After that was with Hector for a few controls so got into a better rhythm and was running better.
Need to check entries better to not lose time in the circle.
