Walking (BG Leg 3 with Em) 12:40:45 [3] 35.76 km (21:16 / km) +2821m 15:15 / km
shoes: S/LAB Ultra 2

The target was to walk the whole BG, legs 3,4,5 today and then 1,2 tomorrow. This was retrospectively perhaps a little ambitious.

Set of about 5am from Dunmail after a 3.30am alarm. Torch up steel fell but not really necessary. Lovely day, limitless views. Didn't realize how easy the nav is on this leg when it isn't misty! You can just aim at the summits.

High raise first (still think it's faster, but never done them the other way around). Nailed the Rosset to Bowfell line. Going fine but not fast until LR/WWT. Em did not like WWT, turns out she's fine with exposure eg Crib Goch but doesn't like loose rock. So that shook her up somewhat.

Note to self, the route from Mickledore is probably better on the spur just to the R of the correct gully. The gully is pretty treacherous at the moment.

At Wasdale we decided based on the L3 time we didn't have time for L4 without getting home about 1am. Em was pretty wrecked too. So we thought we'd go back to Honister and then think about just doing L5. But after 12 hours one more climb wasnt particularly appealing either and so we headed back to Keswick by taxi, decided better to save some energy for tomorrow.

Running - Trail (Shining Tor loop) 2:01:22 [3] 20.79 km (5:50 / km) +859m 4:50 / km
ahr:149 max:180 shoes: TrailTalon 235

Standard shining Tor loop. Lovely in the sunshine. Just about getting into sweat-weather.

Feeling pretty good. Knocked 8s off a flattish segment to take back the CR, and got 2nd on an uphill one. Good start to the weekend.

Note
(rest day)

Walked up Nancy with Em as per. I think it's good if I can still get 150m ascent on my rest days.

Nice evening trails from the LC. Chris pushing us to run faster than I really wanted to as usual! Good to be challenged though.

Note

Discussed the results of my scans with my consultant yesterday and... There's nothing wrong with me. So I guess we'll never know!

Ruled out a load of things which is good, though. If it comes back they can do more more tests, but he said it's the law of diminishing returns and I'm young and healthy. 'Young' - ha. It's all relative!
7 AM

Running - Road/Track (Morning run) 25:26 [3] 5.21 km (4:53 / km) +51m 4:39 / km
ahr:135 max:157 shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

I should really run home from Em's all the time but I don't think I've done it for about a year.

Cold wind, otherwise fine.
7 PM

Running - Trail (MaccH Fell Group) 1:56:25 [3] 16.96 km (6:52 / km) +685m 5:43 / km
ahr:144 max:177 shoes: TrailTalon 235

This felt tough, not sure why really as it wasn't hard on paper. Really feeling the climbs.

Nice evening although cool and windy (gloves required). Getting dark by the end.

Running - Trail (Recovery) 39:49 [3] 6.9 km (5:46 / km) +263m 4:51 / km
ahr:141 max:169 (injured) shoes: TrailTalon 235

I had been planning on running last night but was totally exhausted. Feeling much better today after 10 hours sleep.

Had a halfhearted go at a few segments but didn't get PRs on any of them.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Exhausted from the 5am starts rather than the actual running!
