Not liking these shoes -> eBay.

Running - Trail race (Five Trigs) 3:03:48 [5] 29.93 km (6:08 / km) +1264m 5:04 / km
ahr:154 max:196 (injured) shoes: Roclite G290

First time doing this on my own and so actually having a proper go.

Three of us had a go today, all starting in different places at different times and in different directions... I couldn't quite match Col Allott's FKT of just under three hours and ran 3:03:48. But N managed to reduce the record with 2:44:47 and Tom destroyed it with 2:30:33!

Splits vs previous best;

Shuts -> Roaches 47:52 (54:57) -7:05
Roaches -> Axe 52:51 (59:04) -6:13
Axe -> Burbage 19:40 (20:39) -0:59
Burbage -> Shining 31:12 (36:13) -5:01
Shining -> Shuts 32:13 (44:35) -12:22

So 31:40 faster. Based on the other times, it looks like the route via the Forest rather than via Cumberland is about 7 mins faster, and the others differences are just running on my own vs chatting pace.

Across the moor from Burbage to the path down the heather was a brave choice since it was un-recced - I think it's faster at the moment but it was pretty rough. Don't think it would be faster in Summer. From Shining Tor, followed the "trod" which is pretty ropey at best and I think I'd have been better going straight.

Started at Standing Stone CP because it was somewhere new to start rather than for a good reason. I think Tom's idea of starting in the Goyt (for a/c) or at the bottom of Shuts (for clockwise) are good, each getting the big climbs done first.

One Clif bar on the ascent to Axe and a couple of Bloks up Shining.

Pain free until about halfway! Pretty sure this is an improvement. Scans should be next week.

Comparing splits with Tom - I think the road route via Flash is about 2.5 mins faster

Running - Road/Track (Easy loop) 31:38 [3] 6.53 km (4:51 / km) +47m 4:40 / km
ahr:146 max:172 (injured) shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

44 miles in the last seven days somehow so getting back to some semblance of normality...

No pain today. MRI and ultrasound next week hopefully. Pretty much guarantee they won't find anything.

Running - Trail (Shoe testing) 36:21 [3] 6.36 km (5:43 / km) +234m 4:50 / km
ahr:143 max:165 (injured) shoes: Merrell Agility Peak 4

Shoe testing my 8th pair now in this extremely lucrative role for Runners World.

We don't often get trail shoes. These are weird; very low back so you have to do them super tight otherwise your for is rolling around everywhere. Grip on the forefoot uphill wasnt amazing in the mud. Feel a bit unstable. Basically they're an ultra shoe and they're probably ok at that, although the tightness in the rest of the foot might make that an untenable use case. We shall see. Still - free shoes.

Ascent is going well this week. 1,124m in 4 weekday lunchtimes. Would be good to keep that up.

Orienteering - Urban 1:37:12 [3] 14.19 km (6:51 / km) +402m 6:00 / km
ahr:125 max:179 (injured) shoes: Roclite 300 (blue/fluro)

Same orienteering as before but with Em and going for shortest distance.
8.76 miles and I think the previous best was just over 9.

700m ish shorter than last time. Not sure what I'll do if someone beats this! As it looks optimum to me.

ahr:161 max:194 (injured) shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

Good hill training for a lunchtime run.

ahr:158 max:192 (injured) shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

Trying to get as much ascent at possible in as smaller a distance as possible. 250 is about optimum I reckon without going over previous ground again.

Best the injury has felt since like November so fingers crossed, not getting too hopeful yet though since this has happened before.

Note
(injured)

Saw a consultant today and referred for an ultrasound and an MRI.

Kind of exciting.
