Running - Trail race (MH Fell Handicap) 2:10:45 [5] 22.77 km (5:45 / km) +993m 4:43 / km
ahr:145 max:171 shoes: X-talon 212 (blk/flro) - Nov17

EDIT: basing off Graham's time I lost 2:29 getting lost - even allowing for me running a bit faster than him I didn't lose more than 3 mins - phew!

2nd (handicap), 4 mins down. Knew my handicap was pretty generous and isn't likely to be ever again... But threw away my chance at victory by getting lost :( I don't think I lost 4 minutes but it was probably close to that. Got lost in the same fields where I got lost in the recce, but in a different way! Dammit.

Good running conditions though, and still a great route even in the not-snow. Felt pretty good running wise - slight ankle pain but not too bad. Didn't take as long as I thought it would and so probably ate too much; it's probably short enough to go with just shot bloks the whole way around.

Found out about some sneaky short cuts from Dan afterwards so definitely worth another recce before next year.

Note

55 miles this week - that's quite a lot.

Running - Road/Track race (Parkrun - Chadderton) 20:17 [5] 5.0 km (4:03 / km) +46m 3:53 / km
ahr:141 max:156 shoes: Hoka Cavu

1st. Pushed for the first half but then the guy dropped back. The 10m 'hill' felt like nothing on lap 1, but had become a bit mountainous by lap 4! Good course, lots of corners though and would be terrible if there were a couple of hundred people with the overtaking on the narrow paths - thankfully with less than 50 it was all good.

Ankle still a bit sore, but it only has to survive another 4 races before 2 weeks off (skiing)...

Running - Trail race (Flower Scar) 1:20:28 [5] 13.68 km (5:53 / km) +690m 4:42 / km
ahr:150 max:184 shoes: X-Talon 225 (July 2017)

Edit: only 3 mins behind 4th, and 90s behind 4th lady...I was catching. Another 5k, who knows!
The top 3 were well clear.

21st. Massively down for the first climb - other people obviously knew it was going to be single track and so destroyed the first few hundred metres.this meant it was good psychologically though as I was passing people the whole way around.
Felt tough up the hills but running pretty well on the downs. Too far behind to have a proper race in to the finish so just enjoyed the last downhill.
Ankle managed to survive with only sporadic pain so I'm hopeful it will last the AL tomorrow.

Running - Trail (Exploring Tegg's) 57:55 [3] 7.62 km (7:36 / km) +321m 6:17 / km
ahr:121 max:139 shoes: X-Talon 212 (May 17)

Both times I've tried to find my way down the hill before this have been in the snow, and wanted to find the right route before the race on Sunday. Successfully did that.
4kgs in the other bag felt much better.

Interesting inner ankle bone pain which developed last week (I think) and doesn't seem to be going away; comes and goes during a run. Google is uncertain what this might be. Will have a rest day tomorrow... might even not do parkrun on saturday (gasp).

Running - Trail (MH Fell Training) 1:15:51 [3] 10.72 km (7:05 / km) +371m 6:02 / km
ahr:128 max:145 shoes: X-Talon 212 (May 17)

Dismal evening. Upped the weight to 4kgs which was a struggle up the muddy hills, but mainly it's a bit heavy for the race vest, going to have to transfer to the 15L I think.
Only three in the quick(er) group tonight.

Orienteering - Urban race (Poynton) 1:13:51 [5] 14.72 km (5:01 / km) +72m 4:54 / km
ahr:134 max:157 shoes: Hoka Cavu

Did one thing right this time - left some controls near the finish to get near the end if I had time. This probably seems obvious, but it's the first time I've done it on purpose!

In retrospect there were a couple of 50s I probably would've had time for if I'd foregone some of the smaller ones, but not a bad effort I don't think.

Surprised the pub woman by ordering the 'skinny steak' (with quinoa salad rather than chips) and then ordering onion rings and garlic sauce as well. I doubt this is a popular order. She doesn't know I was just avoiding the chips rather than trying to be healthy.

Quinoa salad better than expected; definitely nicer than chips. Steak was good too.

Running - Road/Track (MH Road Training) 1:13:58 [3] 13.78 km (5:22 / km) +207m 5:00 / km
ahr:142 max:168 shoes: Hoka Cavu

First run with the road group, apparently it's more sedate on Mondays. Had a go at the 108-step segment a couple of times, and at the end someone said we were going to race the last 3k; obvs that ignited my competitive spirit and went quickly for that bit.
Chilly evening.

Arms aching a bit post-four vaccinations I had today.
