Exciting dot race:

-----------------

3rd; 90s behind Leon.Really good.

Dealt the all the under/over bridges well.one bad route choice 9-10 where I reckon I went about 100m extra, and a few steps hesitation on 29 before I realised I was on the wrong side of a hedge.otherwise clean,no more than 30s lost throughout.

Lesson is when it's really rough, try and minimise time in the roughness and have confidence that I'll get to a path eventually but don't take this to ludicrous extremes and go round when it's twice as far #ontherunin.

--------------
8th/14
As per at the moment, lost loads of time.
2 - 90s,failed to glance to my left and looked in some other crags first
8 - 90s,took the spur route since the running looked easier and it was, but no good AP from above and went too far
15 - 2mins - didn't like the map here, kept getting stuck in stuff that was mapped as being fine. Also got really foggy and raining at this point.shouldve had more confidence in the bearing and just kept going, though.
18 - 1min - no AP and fog made this hard, lucky to find the ditch in the end.

Nice area, shame about the weather and the inconsistent heather mapping in places.

Winsplits puts me 4th in 'time without mistakes' and deducts about 4 minutes - that's about right. So must have been running ok, at least.
---

Scrappy.

Warmest day of the year so far made it feel pretty oppressive and slow. In contrast to Tenby where I felt good, tonight I did not feel good.

Found 1 ok; didn't come in on the right path but recognised that it wasn't in a re-entrant and relocated without losing any time.
2 was much worse; tried to find it from above but came in far too early and messed about for a bit. I thought I was on a platform without a control, but I think it must just have been the widening of the contours just E of the wall. After noting at the weekend that these features are much more obvious on the ground than the map should probably have picked up on this. Bad. 2mins mistake.
6 - in avoiding the trap of staying on the rhs pavement and therefore ending up on the wrong side of the wall, created a different one for myself as mis-imagined the junction and ended up surprising some people having a BBQ in their (OOB) garden. "I think you're in the wrong place", they commented pleasantly, "you can't get through down there". It was nice they were so polite. +1min.

Ran all the way around the building work on the way to 8; in fairness to me they aren't mapped how they were in real life - but should still have done this better, I don't think anyone else made this mistake, probably another 30s.

Spent a bit of time working out whether it was possible to get out to the N to 9 and decided that it was so went that way despite the rock climbing. I think the other way was probably faster.

Lost 30s on 10 by running to where the control should have been rather than where it actually was. I was annoyed at the time at myself, so it's nice to be able to be unannoyed now :)

Lost a bit more time on 13 being the wrong side of the fence.

Basically - quite a lot of mistakes, so no wonder I was quite far down the results tonight.
