Orienteering - Forest (Ramscombe) 1:01:39 [3] 9.06 km (6:48 / km) +312m 5:48 / km

EDIT: 7th/36
http://www.quantockorienteers.co.uk/items/Galoppen...
Lost the time mainly where I thought; without mistakes would've been up with Nigel and Pete so running speed isn't too bad. Excellent run from Eddie to be 4mins up on Clive.
_________

All muscles from waist down have been Blorenged and were not happy today.

Reasonable run and nice area though.

Two annoying mistakes:
8-9 wanted to contour but didn't head steeply enough up the hill and didn't look where I expected the rough open patches to be with the result that I didn't know which one I hit, or really exactly where I was for the rest of the leg.so a couple of minutes lost here. Classic example of oversimplifying - 'SW to path' was too much.
Main issue though was choice of route anyway; straight would've been much better here and would probably have saved another minute.

12-13 terrible choice to take the longer, not-path route rather than the obvious path; no idea what I was thinking.also ignored the option to cut a corner. But worse than that, approach into the control was dire, AP was good but decided to follow a veg boundary 90° in wrong direction rather than the earthbank. I can only put the errors on this leg down to tiredness because they are genuinely bizarre.at least another 2 mins on finding the control and probably another 2 for route choice.

Running - Trail race (Parkrun - Wotton) 18:58 [5] 5.0 km (3:48 / km) +36m 3:40 / km
shoes: X-Talon 190 (blue)

Disappointed to be 45s slower than 5 weeks ago but I guess that's what injury does to you... Conditions were muddier but not significantly so -not 45s worth.

Still my favorite local Parkrun, though.

Running - Trail race (The Blorenge Fell Race) 30:46 [5] 3.75 km (8:12 / km) +437m 5:11 / km
shoes: X-Talon 190 (blue)

18th/75
Didn't feel as if this was very quick going up, but 2 mins faster than when I did the Blorenge uphill race?! Not sure how but I'll take it.

But then really tentative on the downhill, especially once we reached the path through the woods which had leaves covering the rocks and was especially dangerous - let the guy I'd been chasing get away and let someone else past; basically they deserved it for being braver than me!

Good to know I can still beat Daryl when there are hills.

Amazing unlimited sandwiches and mince pies afterwards!

Running - Road/Track (Evening jog) 38:34 [3] 7.82 km (4:56 / km) +39m 4:49 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32

Shin still feels fine while running but definitely odd when stretching afterwards.

Still very tight calves which no amount of stretching and rolling seems to affect.

Running - Road/Track tempo (Tempo 5k) 21:25 [4] 5.07 km (4:13 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32

One effort to get the segment, obvs.

Running - Trail long (Bradgate and Swithland) 1:39:15 [3] 17.05 km (5:49 / km) +436m 5:10 / km
shoes: X-Talon 212 (Jan16)

Two days off to go to a funeral so making the most of it.

Run with map in one of the nicer LEI areas - bit foggy and very moist underfoot but otherwise lovely day. Not many people out. Trying out new backpack (despite not needing to carry anything) and it was really good.

No shin trouble but right calf really tight so lots of rolling and stretching.

Note

I'm going to have to do something today because I've had two mince pies and a Bailey's cupcake...so far. Probably going to be crosstraining given the heavy rain forecast.
