Admittedly not a high-class field - but there were another couple of reasonable guys and we had a battle at the front. I was leading up the first hill but then into third along the top of the down and up the undulations - then into 2nd on the downhill and into first about 3.5k - then stayed ahead for the 2nd lap.

Excellent scenery - prettiest 10k ever? Maybe.

Lots of climb for a trail race.

Note

Thinking about not running tonight; bit of left Achilles pain...and I've done the Towpath thrice anyway. I think b and w will probably be ok without me.

(rest day)

Properly resting.
Although my eyes have started hurting randomly - withdrawal symptoms?

Orienteering race (BOK Urban Pomphrey) 33:57 [5] 7.59 km (4:28 / km) +100m 4:12 / km
ahr:146 max:165 shoes: Saucony Virrata 2

2nd, 2.5mins behind Adam.

Pretty good. Very hesitant on 3, wanted to make sure was definitely going to end up on the right side, 10s.then careful to 5 going via both the open strip and the bench...with hindsight the bench was the better AP so should've just used that.

Then TOO safe to 6 going over and down the steps rather than along the path...bad choice.20s lost there.

However,I'm pleased with how I did in this area because it's exactly the type of terrain where I often lose lots of time, so I think staying safe and accepting small losses is the right tactic for me.

The other 2 mins just running speed,a few secs per control.missed one best route to 17 but not a lot in it.missed another to 21 which was probably 10s better.

Very proud of my prodigy Jason winning the medium course!

Running race (Handicap 5k-little stoke) 18:24 [5] 5.0 km (3:41 / km) +19m 3:37 / km
ahr:160 max:171 shoes: Saucony Virrata 2

Organised a handicap race with people from work.

I lost.

Only one second below my predicted time - but everyone else was under, the winner by about 90s! So it wasn't as fun as it could've been...but they all seemed to love it and want to do it monthly! Fair enough.should be much closer next time if we use this time's times as the handicaps.

ahr:118 max:176 shoes: Saucony Kinvara 4

6 x 1km. Probably should've done the full 8 but decided to be sensible for once!
Paced well so felt ok.
All between 3:30 and 3:35.
