Running - Trail (Edale skyline) 4:39:35 [3] 30.47 km (9:11 / km) +1063m 7:49 / km
ahr:127 max:158 shoes: Hoka Mafete 2

Easy with Emma; longest she's run for a few years but she rejected my offer of cutting it short - made of strong stuff.

Good temp for running; had gloves on for most of it. Standard UK June.

Feeling heavy-legged from the 5k effort but fine otherwise.

Running - Trail (MaccH Fell Training) 1:55:57 [3] 15.61 km (7:26 / km) +699m 6:04 / km
ahr:148 max:174 shoes: Roclite 300 (blue/fluro)

Led the most interesting route I can think of; never done some paths in this direction. Just 4 of us out on a very wet, windy and wild evening. Relatively mild, though.
Feeling ok, but pace fairly sedate.

Running - Road/Track race (Mob match) 18:29 [5] 5.01 km (3:41 / km) +2m 3:41 / km
ahr:150 max:159 shoes: New Balance 890

Bollington Harriers vs Wilmslow.
Heavily weighted toward number of runners so I thought this was in the bag and I could jog round, but it's coming down to the wire (ends 8pm) so I had to put a quick time in. Still only made 10th behind 9 Wilmslow guys; clearly they're taking it seriously...

Felt dreadful to say it's 45s off my best time.

Running - Trail tempo (Todd Brook Julie's Challe) 2:39:30 [4] 26.34 km (6:03 / km) +939m 5:08 / km
ahr:141 max:163 shoes: Roclite 300 (blue/fluro)

One of the challenges that I've been meaning to do for ages. Nice route,a few paths I haven't done before. Tough climb up from the river to Pym Chair in the road. Nice run through the rocks and then down/up to Whaley Moor, then a bit of trespass to come out in the right place. Only lost for 30s or so.
Then sudden heavy rain on the moor, coat on, slippery rocks. Stopped within 5 mins.

Terrible choice tussocky corner cut above Lyme culminated in a 12ft, barbed wire-topped wall climb. But from there was lovely until started raining again, decided against the coat, but then it was apocalyptic and I had to run with my hands as a visor the rain was pelting down so hard. Finished up totally drenched and freezing.

But happy.

Running - Road/Track (RW test shoes) 56:56 [3] 9.98 km (5:42 / km) +83m 5:29 / km
ahr:122 max:139 shoes: On CloudFlyer

Loop along the canal, half with Emma.

These shoes will be going on eBay. The material is really thick; ventilation is terrible. Not a shoe for this time of year!

Pretty easy with the fell group in the mid twenties heat even by 9pm.
Feeling pretty good.

Note
(rest day)

Mainly ate cake and sausage rolls. Will pull my finger out tomorrow.

Did send an email round asking for potential BGR help, though :)

Monday Jun 22, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

7ish mile walk with my parents around Lathkil Dale, then another 3 with Emma around Chrome Hill, then another 4 ish round Macc in the evening.

Pretty tired.

Sunday Jun 21, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

16 mile walk to Alport Castles. Nice.

Running - Trail (Harvey Howgill Tops) 9:13:23 [5] 57.69 km (9:36 / km) +3482m 7:22 / km
shoes: Xtalon 212 (blk/red)

Wanted to do this for a while; seemed like a good challenge and a good way to tick off pretty much a whole mountain range.

Terrible start as FB on map 200m from start didn't exist and had to go around to the ford. But after that, first 7 summits all fine and fairly straightforward. First steep contouring required around to 8. First steep climb up to Yarlside 11@ 639m, then immediately another steep down and up to 12 followed by a lovely ridge run.

15 and 19 more really steep climbs, but the weather was good and my target 9 hours was looking possible. Ran out of water on the way to brown moor 25 just after passing a lovely spring - wish I'd looked at the map as despite there being constant stream crossings up to that point, there was then nothing all the way to 38! Spent a good 90mins really thirsty until found a muddy puddle...luckily the filter worked and no ill effects. Didn't taste great though. Went down and up rather than contouring to 38 just to go via a proper stream! Luckily after 26, there were no more really big climbs.

There was no nice way down from 40, after the whole day of lovely grass, stuck in bracken which got higher and higher until reaching head height. So last 4k back to the car took far longer than expected, and missed my target. But never mind! It was notional anyway; challenge target is 12 hours so all good.

5 clif bars and some shot bloks were fine. Came back and had a sandwich and an entire quiche. Worth it.

Nothing. Going to make a cake now, as well.

ahr:135 max:161 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Just to get out of the house.
7 PM

Running - Trail (MH Fell Training) 1:52:58 [3] 16.65 km (6:47 / km) +646m 5:41 / km
ahr:133 max:154 shoes: Roclite 300 (blue/fluro)

Back to group running! 6 people max, so we had three groups; I got to lead the fast group coz I'm proper nuff quick innit.

Nice to have five choices of who to talk to!! Not had that for months. First hour or so was heavy rain, thunder and terrifying lightning which we estimated was less than 500m away. Given we were heading to a 500m trig which was the locally highest point for a mile - a little unnerving. But half an hour later, waterproofs off and it was lovely.

Felt fine so all good.

Hs still niggly; good otherwise. Looking forward to a thunderstorm as the humidity is getting silly.

Running - Road/Track (Easy loop) 1:16:41 [3] 15.14 km (5:04 / km) +140m 4:50 / km
ahr:145 max:167 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

To meet Em, 30 mins running together, then home.

Bit stiff but nothing major. Humid out; needs a storm.

Sunday Jun 14, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

Feeling a bit stiff and right hs a bit tight, got a massage though and that helped.
Too busy eating a massive amount to bother with running though.

Saturday Jun 13, 2020 #

9 AM

Running - Trail long (Kinder Killer) 6:52:27 [4] 44.81 km (9:12 / km) +2575m 7:09 / km
ahr:135 max:183 shoes: Roclite 300 (blue/fluro)

Was expecting this to be much easier than the Dozen which I did at the beginning of January...it wasn't. The 25ish degree temperature probably didn't help. Most of the climbs and a lot of the descents too are all up cloughs with streams and really rocky and technical; lots of climbing.

Got a bit lost a couple of times, and followed the track from Upper Ashop rather than the wall as couldn't see a trod - but looked like one started after 100m or so whereas I missed out on that and had lots of heathery stuff to contour over for ages.

Last couple of hours were a mental struggle since had only been planning for a 4-5 hour run... Nearly gave up until I realised I was basically at the furthest away point. Ran out of water after 4 hours or so and so tried a lot of the streams. Hopefully won't die.

Retrospectively - good fun. Am wrecked now though.

Friday Jun 12, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

Need to learn that I'm far less likely to go out on my own of an evening so I need to get out at lunch! Wasted opportunity today as much less busy at work.

Went for a walk this eve instead which was nice. Windy.

ahr:148 max:165 shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 290 (blue)

Either the rest of the club is avoiding me, or they all prefer running later in the evening :-)

Or both, obvs.

Feeling good tonight. Much better day at work.

Running - Trail (Sponds loop) 1:04:14 [3] 11.15 km (5:46 / km) +374m 4:56 / km
ahr:143 max:171 shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 290 (blue)

Tough day at work and feeling really tired and run down, so just a really easy one.

5 PM

Running - Road/Track tempo (Poachers to Cask) 31:53 [4] 7.81 km (4:05 / km) +91m 3:51 / km
ahr:155 max:170 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Poynton/Bollington challenge to run between their home pubs - shortest route and fastest time.

Was going for shortest route, which I didn't get by 0.15 miles.
Think I got fastest time, though, despite the unexpected stream crossing.

Running - Trail race (Prince's Incline) 10:33 [5] 2.57 km (4:06 / km) +62m 3:40 / km
ahr:157 max:162 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Poynton Runners' Challenge #2, off-road path up a minor hill.
A little muddy and about 5 kissing gates made getting the sub10 target tough, but still got the CR for Bollington.

Running - Trail tempo (Canal home) 34:16 [4] 7.82 km (4:23 / km) +23m 4:19 / km
ahr:140 max:154 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Started steady but turned into tempo as I remembered how dull running along the canal is and wanted to get it over with quickly.

Feeling good given the pace and the uneven surface and the two efforts prior to this. Feels a pretty week easy week with no long run, so glad to still meet the mileage target.

Running - Trail (Shining Tor loop) 2:05:24 [3] 21.25 km (5:54 / km) +911m 4:52 / km
ahr:141 max:158 shoes: Xtalon 212 (blk/red)

Feeling pretty great today. Nearly didn't go out since it was a bit rainy - but always feel good when I'm running with a bit of a breeze and drizzle in the air. Saw exactly zero people - bliss.

Easy loop. Feeling good despite heat again.

Turns out this is day #39 of a run streak.

Last segment on my list of local ones to have a go at; got 2nd which is the best i could've hoped for since the victor is only just over 3 mins ks. I'll take it.
Feeling good actually compared to the last few days, even in the heat.
