So, big day here. This was the hardest thing I have ever put my body through, it was 10 times tougher than I ever imagined. I was not expecting to feel as rough as I did at the end.
I stuck to the plan and was feeling in good shape up until mile 20 my average pace at 8:27. My Quads however were in agony from about mile 16. After mile 20 it all went down hill and my pace dropped up quite dramatically and my average pace dropped to 9:38. I crossed the line in 3h53mins.
The crowd was amazing, not one section was empty of people. I saw lots of people supporting me family/friends an Dulwich. It all helped to get me over the line even though I was in a world of my own for the last 2 miles. I knew if I stopped I would never start again.
This point was proved when I crossed the line a stopped in a wobbly mess. Found meeting point M and couldn't ever get to the floor because my legs didn't work. Carys found me and helped me up, we walked to the shade and I collapsed onto the floor again. Both quads were like rock and totally crammed as were my feet. St Johns Ambulance found me and wheeled me to the tent were I was diagnosed with bad dehydration. I was so cold she couldn't find my pulse. My fingers, toes and lips were blue and I was shaking. Took about 20 minutes to hydrate feel warm again.
Never before have I felt this immobile.
Still, i know what happened and no i can do better.
