Walking 3:16:00 [1] 9.36 mi (20:56 / mi) +880m 16:12 / mi

Family walk from Braedownie up Driesh & Mayar. Another sunny warm day though the wind was a strong westerly on the tops, particularly on Driesh where it ripped my cap off at one point resulting in a Usain Bolt sprint to catch it again. Pretty busy on the way off Mayar which was to be expected. One of Tracey's new Leki carbon poles snapped near the bottom which must be due to a defect. Hopefully will get it replaced ok.

Trail Running 20:45 [2] 2.29 mi (9:04 / mi) +60m 8:23 / mi

Run from the house along the trail to the main road and back with Hanna.

Walking 13:00 [1] 4.5 mi (2:53 / mi) +50m 2:48 / mi

Went a family walk at Balmedie Beach. Headed out to the south for a couple of miles and back with a paddle thrown in. Amazingly quiet. Warm and sunny.

Hill Running 1:03:17 [4] 7.16 mi (8:50 / mi) +470m 7:20 / mi
ahr:146

Very warm conditions for a run but thankfully breezy. Jogged out to the Back o'Bennachie car park then did a hard effort from the track crossing to Oxen Craig trig point and back. Tough in the heat but ground out the climb then pushed the descent. Can tell from strava that descending is relatively much better, no change there! Wore Salomon hill shies instead of speedcross which helped the pace and agility. Enjoyed the mix of fast and rough trails on the way down. Jogged back from the car park, a bit busted in the heat!

Walking 3:59:00 [1] 10.91 mi (21:54 / mi) +880m 17:31 / mi

Family Hillwalk from Glenshee up Carn an Tuirc, Tolmount, Tom Buidhe and Cairn of Claise. Really enjoyable loop in the sunshine. Particularly enjoyed the spongey traverse going across to Tolmount. Hanna going really well, took a fair bit less time than expected. Such a beautiful day and not too hot on the tops.

Walking 2:34:00 [1] 7.37 mi (20:54 / mi) +520m 17:08 / mi
ahr:87

Family walk from the Back o'Bennachie car park. Headed up the path climb towards Watch Craig with the idea of following the hill race route over the tops. Climb path must be pretty much disused apart from the race as was pretty overgrown and rough. Paths from Oxen Craig to Mither Tap were the exact opposite, very smooth gravel. Decided to stay high and headed back to the car over Craigshannoch and down through the woods. Sunny and warm.

Trail Running 48:33 [3] 6.05 mi (8:01 / mi) +220m 7:13 / mi
ahr:130

Run from the house via the trail and road to the Back o'Bennachie. Did nice forest hill loop, then returned the same way. Good route though legs a bit tired. Warm though thankfully there was some cloud.

Trail Running 27:02 [1] 2.95 mi (9:10 / mi) +60m 8:37 / mi
ahr:109

Morning trail/Road run with Hanna from the house. Slightly longer than her normal but was no problem.
9 AM

Walking 1:52:00 [1] 6.38 mi (17:33 / mi) +270m 15:31 / mi

Walk at Clashindarroch Forest round the main XC ski loop. Would love to come back and ski it as the trails looked good. Quite a few trees down across the tracks though. Most impressed there was a biathlon range and penalty loop. Hanna loved the thought of skiing there too. Very quiet since it's in the middle of nowhere!

Trail Running 58:58 [3] 7.25 mi (8:08 / mi) +280m 7:16 / mi
ahr:130

Planned a loop up to Back o'Bennachie, up the hilly forest trails and directly back by the trail/Road into Oyne. Got to the trail end with maybe 1.5 miles to go only to find it blocked off by a fence due to construction work, and no way round. Had to back track to the Back o'Bennachie car park and back from there, adding on over 1.5 miles extra on tired legs! Lucky the warm sun only came out briefly.

Walking 1:49:00 [1] 4.9 mi (22:15 / mi) +530m 16:39 / mi
ahr:101

Family walk up Ben Rinnes from the hill walkers car park. Been a while since I've raced it and been a fair bit of path work done since. Misty pretty much the whole walk though glimpse of sun at the top, but no views.
12 PM

Hill Running 1:05:18 [4] 7.27 mi (8:59 / mi) +480m 7:27 / mi
ahr:145

Ran from the house via trail and road to the Back o'Bennachie, then up the main trail to Oxen Crag. 39min to the top including a minor diversion to Little Oxen. Ran direct back in 26mins. Fairly hard run though HR seems higher than would have expected. Maybe a bit didgy on the descent. Good run in the sunshine, OK fir fitness. Fun descent in the woods once beyond the granite steps on the hill.
