Orienteering race 36:50 [3] 3.48 mi (10:35 / mi) +120m 9:34 / mi

SOL at Culteucher - (part of ) Brown Course
Legs were a bit trashed from yesterday and left knee had been nipping after the race, but felt ok this morning and jogging to the start. Took the pace steady through first few controls but started feeling knee nipping again on steep climb to #4. Was getting gradually worse and the deep heather approach to #7 was enough to prompt the decision to about turn and head to the finish. A bit gutted as did well last time here but glad I made the decision when I did. May need a couple of rest days and some rolling to settle it down.

Coledale Horseshoe Race
One of my favourite races and a great end to the holiday. Started well and pleased with climb up Grisedale Pike, over half a minute faster than last year when I was running well. Headed across to the snowy climb up Eel Crag which was quite a scramble. Legs really started to feel the hard climbs, almost cramping, but held a decent pace. A lot of fast/rough running to the last hill Barrow and was battling with some guys who were handy on the downs. Unfortunately the legs were pretty goosed on the last fairly easy climb so they got a gap but happy enough with the run overall. Finished 23rd, 5th vet in a strong field boosted by the presence of the Salomon team. Great conditions, sunny with light winds and chilly on the tops. Legs now trashed!

Hill Running 1:08:42 [3] 7.78 mi (8:50 / mi) +360m 7:43 / mi

Run with Rupert along the old railway to the bridge which was swept away. Quite incredible the damage done by the flood. Headed up to the stile at the far end of Latrigg then up through the Latrigg car park and up Latrigg via the zig zags. Descended down through the woods and round the side to spooney green lane, and finishing off through Fitz Park.
1 PM

Walking hills 1:30:00 [1] 2.5 mi (36:00 / mi) +360m 24:52 / mi

Walk up Barrow with Tracey and Hanna. Got a lovely afternoon and Hanna was setting a good pace up and down.

Trail Running 4:33 [2] 0.57 mi (7:59 / mi)

At Whinlatter to run the loops planned for the European Trial. Run to the start from the car park.
10 AM

Hill Running 23:36 [4] 3.06 mi (7:43 / mi) +210m 6:21 / mi

Shorter loop planned for the European Trial though it's not much shorter than the long loop. Main difference is that it doesn't go over Seat How. Ran it fairly hard. A bit longer than ideal but can cut out distance when joining laps by cutting up the path by the stream to connect up with the steep climb (also by the stream) on next lap.

Hill Running 28:48 [4] 3.54 mi (8:08 / mi) +290m 6:29 / mi

Longer lap planned for the European Trial. Was swithering about initial climb off the track up towards Seat How, which is steep and scrambly, but the tricky section doesn't take very long and it serves the purpose of breaking the rhythm which is what I was looking for. Descent from Seat How to the finish is a burn up, managed a 5.01 mile. Think the overall balance of the laps is good.

Hill Running 9:12 [3] 0.97 mi (9:29 / mi) +80m 7:33 / mi

Run back to the car.
1 PM

Walking hills 1:30:00 [1] 4.0 mi (22:30 / mi) +350m 17:41 / mi

Walk with Duncan and Chris Richards round the trial course at Whinlatter.
