Orienteering race 1:48:04 [4] 8.73 mi (12:23 / mi) +740m 9:48 / mi

Allerdale Chase Long O
Just had to do this event since it was relatively local to Keswick, in the hills behind Whinlatter. Did the medium course since legs were tired from Dollar. Pleased with run & navigation, with only a minor error on no.10 going to the wrong marsh (too early) but realised mistake quickly. Legs very mashed by the end! Some tough terrain on the way round.

Result - 1st/16

Trail Running 3:03 [2] 0.35 mi (8:43 / mi) +10m 8:00 / mi

Dollar Hill Race (British Championships/SAL Championships/SHR)
For once decent weather for a summer hill race (nice & cool!) though a bit of rain to start with up through the glen. Started fairly fast and latched on to Vic Wilkinson on the first climb who was the perfect pace. Pushed on just before the top of Saddle Hill and slowly gained on the few folk ahead. Caught Craig Mattocks on the run across Maddy Moss and we worked well off each other, Craig slightly stronger on the climbs, me slowly gaining on the downs. A couple of Ambleside guys and Paul Cornforth of Borrowdale were also round abouts which made for a hard race the whole way. Pushed it hard on last descent to gain a small gap on the others and hung on on the road though could hear Cornie closing me down. Very pleased with the race as was at least a 2min pb on the course and best hill race for a while. Found out later I got the 3rd V40 in SAL champs so even happier to pip Manny Gorman! ;-) 40th overall.
