Rock climbing (Earth Treks Columbia) 3:00:31 intensity: (1:02:21 @1) + (1:55:42 @2) + (2:28 @3)
ahr:104 max:140

Trying out a ton of 11s in the columbia gym, we got really really dead. Monday will be interesting.

warmup lead 5.10d (sat once), about halfway up I felt extremely nauseous and faint, like I was about to pass out. Really really weird.

lead 5.11a (sat twice), again almost at the top after a really strengthy move I fell and felt like I was gonna either pass out or throw up like before.

lead 5.11a (sat once) went fine, sat once because I was going up a dumb way and then felt sick again.

lead 5.11c (sat 3 or 4 times) this was a comp climb, really fun, probably didn't have to sit that many times but I was a bit paranoid and scared of falling for some reason so I was going safe. It went surprisingly well tho

toprope 5.12b (sat in 5 or 6 spots) ouch? really hard but at least I did all of the moves, Lucka had to skip one move that I was able to figure out, although tbh it was a little hard to match my foot to my hand there.

toprope 5.11c (fell in 2 spots) Lucka got stuck on the same move I did, and then she tried to climb the 10c next to it but still only made it like halfway up because she was so tired. I ended up using the crack and pressed my legs into the walls (like in a chimney) so much that I skipped like half of the holds.

toprope 5.11d (got to 1st clip and died) yeah no, way too crimpy and hard for the extreme lack of energy and strength I had at this point.

Note

weeding my dad's garden for like 2 hours, got extremely scraped up in my right armpit and on my right side, which really burned a lot while running orienteering the next day. gotta love it

Rock climbing 1:47:29 intensity: (1:29:05 @1) + (17:24 @2) + (1:00 @3)
ahr:111 max:157

5.10d (lead) as a warmup, then some bouldering, 5.12a attempt but got to not even first clip so I tried a 5.11c (top rope) right next to it, got 2/3 way up and then just kinda kept slipping because hands = ouch, then I noticied that my climbing shoes were tearing in the toe so I got my extra pair of climbing shoes that hurt a bit more, helped Kuba on some V1s, and then did a 5.11c (top rope) with one sit.
5 PM

Running long 1:01:56 intensity: (1:19 @1) + (3:33 @2) + (26:38 @3) + (30:26 @4) 8.01 km (7:44 / km) +146m 7:05 / km

d y i n g
I ran with Lucka because she wa supposed to go sailing with my mom but for some reason my mom couldn't reserve the boat so she went on a run with me iinstead and acted as my mental support. To be honest I would've probably cut it short or quit halfway through if she wasn't running with me. Yeah, I stopped to walk a few times, and for a few hills I had to walk up the last bit of them, but I'm satisfied with the run and I'm glad I did it. I hated every second of it, but it feels good to have done it.

my knees are kinda suffering now, I probably should do some conditioning for them. and tbh I think I had more strength to do this run yesterday than today, cuz yesterday jogging here and there felt light and easy but today my legs were just heavy. Not gonna lie, looking forward to Friday's intervals.

Note

Decided I'll go for a short bike ride today instead of a run and then tomorrow I'll do a long run instead of a long bike because I remembered a loop I really wanted to do but it gets on the longer side so I'll do that tomorrow instead.

Completely crashed after school, so yeah I went sorta late.

So today I felt bloated, and I was confused about whether it was because I was eating too much or not enough. My instinct was that I've been eating too much, but I know that's not true, I thought I've been eating enough but I don't think I have, since I was also that tired. Idk, it's so hard to differentiate whether I'm just bloated from not eating enough or if I'm gaining fat.

and I don't know when/how I should take rest days? like I don't want to just sit at home/not do any exercise because it feels like I'm lazy, but also sometimes I need the break. But how often am I supposed to rest? cuz when I'm tired I can't tell if I'm tired because I'm overdoing it or I'm tired because of other things or if I'm tired because I'm supposed to be and should push through the tiredness. I'm trying to listen to my body but I don't know how to properly interpret what it's telling me.

whoa why did my HR shoot up that high? is it cuz of the heat or something? like I was running easy and most of it was downhill so...

Running hills (pavement) 15:48 intensity: (31 @2) + (1:46 @3) + (10:25 @4) + (3:06 @5) 1.56 km (10:07 / km) +61m 8:27 / km

dying but also glad I did them, chose a hill and ran up it 10x hard, break was walking down it.

why is it that every time after a workout I'm like "oh I should have done more" even though I'm dying at the end of the workout and, like today, I felt done at the 6th interval, but I pushed myself to 10. Like, I know that I'm doing the workouts hard enough, but an hour after it feels like I didn't. Weird stuff.
Also like eating? It's so hard to get myself to eat, like I have to force myself to eat stuff all the time because I never want to eat anything, and then at night when I go to bed I'm absolutely starving and I can't fall asleep because my stomach is growling to I get a quick dry bowl of cereal usually to calm my stomach down and that helps. It's just weird, I've always had the complete opposite issue.

Walk 8:39 intensity: (3 @1) + (8:36 @2) 0.69 km (12:33 / km) +23m 10:46 / km

3 PM

Rock climbing 1:22:35 [3]
ahr:97 max:135

Mostly ropes, tiny bit of bouldering + nearly face plated onto a volume, like it was an inch from my face so that's fun.

Warm up on a 5.9 (lead), fell at 4th clip on purpose to practice falling, ended up hitting Lucka as she flew up from catching the fall (she knew I was gonna fall, so she was ready, she's just like 70 pounds lighter or something so yeah), got a bit freaked out about that cuz I was scared I hurt her and also falling half the climb and then crashing into your belayer is just kinda scary in general. Climbed back up and finished the climb.

5.11b (lead), very overhanging but with mostly easy holds, just sat on almost every clip because I'm weak, but it was technically really easy, every hold was a gorgeous jug. Wanted to climb this for a while but was nervous about trying it, glad I finally did because tbh the overhang (it was practiclly a roof) wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

5.11b (lead) on the short flat wall, sat twice because the clips were terrifying and for the middle two clips I held on to the holds from the neighboring 5.10b to clip with because honestly those were not holds I'd be able to clip from, especially since the wall was flat/almost a slab and the clips were kinda far, I was not about to take a whipper there. Other than the clipping it was pretty easy, just had to trust the holds.

5.11d (top rope) on the short flat wall again, I sat in 3 spots, twice because I slipped and fell because I trusted something I shouldn't have, once because it was just a really hard move that was very balance-y and it took me a bit to realize I need to flip my knee to the other side to stand up properly.

some bouldering, trying the V3 that's definitely at least a V4/5 (I still haven't seen a single person complete it), and then checking out some of the new climbs where one was like a run on volumes and catching a hold to the side, but my foot missed the second out of 3 volumes and just barely missed the third volume with my face. (there were other climbers there like 10x better than me that I could hear say "ooooooh" when I fell cuz like it was a close call)

then on the way home a big branch broke off and fell on the street in front of my car so ig I escaped death twice today, fun

First time using a new epunch! let's see how long I can keep this one safe from Oliver.

I'm pretty happy with this run. I was 100% clean, save for two route choices that might not have been the best, but they worked. For the first 8 controls I really tried to run consistently, and I did. I really ran the first half of the course, but then from 8 to 9 I decided to just walk it. I ran a bit towards the end, too, but I was pretty slow on 9, and kinda slow going to 10 and 11. Also my pants started falling apart so I was chafing really bad, I fixed it temporarily going to 12 and because I was sweaty and sticky, it stuck like that until the end. But yeah, ouch.

course comments in my splits
Second again, let's gooo! I'm happy about that. Really wish I ran more in the second half though, but I guess I just need to work on my endurance. I was worried about overdoing it and then crashing on the last few controls and not having any kick left and getting dehydrated. But I still beat Lucka by 18 seconds, so I'm not complaining :)

Overall the course felt not necessarily easy navigationally, but on the easier side. Definitely felt like a long course, with the longer legs and more emphasis on running and route choices than quick, precise navigation. Given that longs are the bane of my existence, I'm glad I didn't stick to green and pushed myself to try. Definitely felt like it was a good run and I got a good result from it.

Slightly rolled my kind-of-sprained ankle attacking #6, but I kept running and being more careful with it and then it was fine. Icing it now and will put a heat pack on later to get the blood circulating.
