The "Idaho" workout
Coach Marshall's tradition. He made up the workout as he went and asked a random runner a random question to determine what the next interval would be. He asked me what my favorite shape was. When I said "ellipse," Coach Marshall was caught off guard and gave us an easier interval, a 200 tempo. Intervals for the workout ranged from 200m to 1000m and were between LT and 1600 pace. They were in a pretty random order. It was hot and he picked the hilliest part of the course but my paces were fairly consistent.
