Meet vs. Lincoln, Park Tudor at home. The course was very slow on a warm day. Also they turned the sprinklers on, which made all of us drenched. The only problem was that it was hard to breathe in the sprinkler water. I was 3rd for most of the race, but then a Lincoln person passed me in the last 200m to put me into fourth.

Camp Cullom Sprint A. Tough because of the 1:5000 scale in woods, which I was not used to. Good to get some O' in before NAOC. I overshot control 4 in the woods and relocated with my compass, and was a little distance-shaky on controls 3, 7, and 12.

Sprint C was a lot less shaky and was cleaner. A notable experience was an encounter with an unleashed dog that escaped its yard on the other side of the road on control 3, which probably cost about a minute.

Sprint B was very clean because I had already seen most of the controls.

The White was an uneventful jog.

Eastwood/Clay meet. It was very competitive. The course was rather flat and boring, except for some sections on sides of hills. It also had no shade at all. These could be the reasons for my slowish time: Boring course, school being stuck on the end of the starting line, too many sides of hills, and a bashed up knee from Wednesday.

Meet against Lynhurst. I was in the front group for the first 2 kilometers, but then the other person I was running with got a cramp and slowed down. I pulled away in a meet that wasn't very competitive. We also won as a team.

Township meet against Eastwood and Westlane. Very competitive obviously because Eastwood was there. The course was longer than 3k by a lot so times were a lot longer. It was also basically a home meet. I found the sections of woods used in this meet a lot better than some in previous meets. At the end of the race, I was 13th (Eastwood swept the top 11), and the team came in a close third.

Westlane Invitational meet. Fun course on a comparatively cold morning-I've gotten used to 80 degree days and was surprised by a 45 degree morning. Luckily I stayed warm. When the race started, I got pushed out and was caught behind some slow people on the track. I pulled in front of that group and finished the first km in 3:30. The rest of the race was relatively uneventful except for the sprint at the finish, which I lost, and the PR, which I got. Finished 21st on the race.

Guion Creek meet vs Guion Creek and Zionsville. Very hilly with lots of changes of direction in one long loop. I started out with a 3:50 first kilometer and then the windy woods trails and the hills came. I passed about 10 people at the beginning and then intermittently passed and was passed. A Guion person seemed to be walking because of a cramp and when I passed him, he started to run fast. Then he alternated slow and fast and ran at top speed in the last 50 meters before I could react. He ended up beating me by a few steps. I ended up seventh on the race, but there was an almost total ribbon sweep by Zionsville.

The second meet of the year: vs Midtown. The competition in the boys' race was not very stiff and he woods section was very muddy. The course-keepers had torn up the grass yesterday (seen during mapping). Anyway, I started out a little bit slower and was in front at the end of the first loop. A Midtown person tried to challenge me, but I finished in front.
