Orienteering long 1:54:00 [3] **** 9.7 km (11:45 / km) +369m 9:52 / km
20c shoes: X Talon 212-2

First long-o in a while: "purple" course at woodland trails, a very large map about 2/3 the size of yellowwood. Probably closer to blue standard for a classic course meet. On a more interesting map (and less thick) than the traditional Valentine's Day meet at Possum Creek. Areas of cedar groves and open fields. Lots of small streams. The occasional section of woods with honeysuckle. Some legs were primarily on boring roads but a lot of it was complicated re-entrants in the cedars. Also a few hard-to-see controls in small ditches and controls up near the Boy Scout camp in small clearings. It was cold (22) and slightly breezy at the beginning but it got colder and snowier (about an inch of snow, 18 degrees) by the end. Visibility was estimated at between a quarter and a half mile. Parts of my run were littered with small but frustrating 1 to 5 minute errors (5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16) but other parts were clean.
