Decided it was time to return to the hills with a big run. Threkeld, up Sharp Edge to Blencathra, over to Great Calva, Little Calva, Bakestall, Skiddaw, Skiddaw Low Man, Lonscale Fell, back up Blencathra and down Hall's Fell. News flash - training for a marathon does nothing for your ability to run up and down hills! I was aching from hill reps on Thursday (calves and hamstrings), felt not too bad at first, then starting to tire up Skiddaw, and the drop from Lonscale was steep, really aching my quads and knees, the pull back up Blencathra was equally steep, felt like the last hill in every mountain marathon I've done, and down Hall's Fell was tough too. Still, I guess I did >2km of ascent, and the aim was to get some serious hills in, so job done. Nice to be out, particularly over the back where it was peaceful.
