Run in Harbottle Woods in Northumberland. Had dropped off Pippa at the airport (off for 5 weeks in Antartica). Woods/moor looked ok on the map, and had half an eye on possible future major event areas (e.g. JK2020 in NEOA). Some very pleasant bits of wood, but probably not enough detail in them to be good for technical orienteering.

Tagging in Mulgrave for the Northern Champs in April. Got all 74 sites tagged which was good. Most of them seemed ok as well, but a few adjustments to the courses will be needed. The arena in the forest looks great.

Not sure what made me think this was a sensible session to do. Anyway, here we go, jog out to Stone Bridge, then 4 * 4km reps on the railway path, 2min rest between each. Was aiming for <4min/km, ended up with 3:54, 3:59, 3:54, 4:05. Felt really hard in the second half of the 2nd and 4th reps - 2nd rep probably hard as it goes gently uphill for most of it, 4th rep hard because I was getting tired! Felt shattered jogging home back across town (which includes two big hills which I took at a snail's pace). Feels good to have done it now I'm back home though!

Flat reps mostly on tarmac around the outside of the cricket pitch fields. 6*1min (~3:30min/km), 3*2min (~3:35min/km), 2*3min (~3:40min/km), 1*6min (~3:45min/km). Hard work as expected.
