Nick and SJ's wedding yesterday down south. Had the choice of either the London city race, or doing something on the way home. So I opted for a run in the Peaks. Started at Langsett Reservoir, and over to hills east of Derwent reservoir, then dropped down and back up along the side of the reservoirs, and back up and over.

The coolest thing happened half way round. I'd be vaguely aware of a couple of planes in the area, and a helicopter, and the odd person photographing stuff off the ridge (nothing so odd about that). Then as I was descending to the reservoir there were like a dozen people with their cameras out. That is odd. Then two Lancaster bombers come flying past, fly up the valley, turn round, and back down again, really low down, making this amazing old aeroplane sound. Helicopter must have been filming. Turns out they are the only two Lancaster bombers that still fly (and one is usually in the US), and were recreating some dambusters action as part of a tour of the UK. And by some remarkable coincidence I was there to see them. Awesome!

Steady run to Aykley Heads and Frankland prison. Legs aching after last nights extension, mainly all the miles on the moorland tracks.

DFR. Steady jog warn up, then it was the Andicap. Andy disbelievingly found out that I should have 90s more handicap than him (true because he has always beaten me on these runs), but decided that couldn't be right, so we started together. He set off fast, but I sort of thought he might slow down, as he hadn't been staying up there on the last couple of DFR nights. But he did, and finished 50s ahead, first, with me second, overtaking all the others who'd started earlier.

Then went for some extra miles, back up to Doctor's Gate, and over the moor to Hidden Valley and back. Bit tedious as it was dark, and wet mist, so couldn't see anything. Bit eerie, didn't really know if I was going the right way, never been on those tracks, but it worked out. Tracks were horrible, all stony. Anyway, good to get the extra miles in.
