Orienteering race 4:55:37 [3] 28.5 km (10:22 / km) +1820m 7:52 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 300 red

LAMM day 2. Game of two halves, two steep hills culminating in a munro summit (in the mist), then long downhill, followed by undulating moor. I got really tired towards the end, hadn't found enough to drink. Eventually found a stream and had some shotbloks and felt fresh again at the end - amazing what some energy and water can do. Just 5 minutes ahead on the day, so 55 minute win overall - 2nd and 3rd place teams started 2 mins apart and were racing all day and pushing each other, although we weren't hanging around that much. Very happy with the result.

Orienteering race 6:35:37 [3] 39.0 km (10:09 / km) +2410m 7:45 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 300 red

LAMM day 1, An Teallach, Fisherfield and the Fannichs. Amazing area, really fantastic scenery, and nice running not too rough. Good day mostly, not sure about all route choices. #2 we went up the left valley to col and maybe quicker going right to a lower col. #5 we had a short swim across the neck of the loch which was nice. #7 took a very nice line right of the big hill up to a col with a good path all the way up not on map. #8 was hard work traversing left, but not sure if right would have been better, maybe? Nice weather mostly, but started to hail up to #8, but then eased off. #9 was a slog on a slowly rising traverse (quicker over top?). I was zonked at the end, misjudged how far to go and didn't keep eating and drinking. But 50 minute lead overnight so cannot complain!
