UKA Inter-Counties Fell Running Championships - Witton Park

12th overall & 2nd mu23.

Off we go. After the disappointing run at Coniston due to going off slightly pacey I didn't to calm things down a bit for this one. Sat in the early 30's on the lower slopes of the climb and pretty much stayed there till the summit.

Moved pasted a few on the short descent then were back up to the summit on the short lap. Slowly working myself through to 21st after the first lap.

The second lap, we kept moving up and through. Got myself through to 13th at the end of the second lap but couldn't see anyone in front. Got to the summit then hammered it off the hill, and managed to catch another guy who was fading badly.

Then Rob Hope is coming into sight! Got within 5sec of him but then he looked back and moved into another gear.

Pleased. 1st English mu23 means I am running for England at the Home International Mountain Running Championships in June!

Half a session ahead of Sunday's Inter-Counties Fell Champs, 6x 50sec / 1min recovery.

Very easy 2mi warm up (av HR 127) to shake legs out, calf and hamstring a little sore.

6x 50sec with 1min recovery, didn't run the reps flat out but moving well - all sub 5min /mi pace.

A jog warm down, hamstring and calf okay.

Calf testing jog / easy running around Rudyard Lake. Calf felt fine. Quads a little on the heavy side with the amount of cycling miles in them.

Calf on the mend by thought with a bit of time free I might as well get out on the bike again, plus in some cracking weather.

From Leek out to Buxton via Hartington and Monyash and back via Flash.

Legs a little tired but felt good the first 30mi with the last 18mi being hard work. Ain't done much cycling lately so was the be expected.

Three days running in ahead of Inter-Counties, hopefully calf loosens off.

After yesteday's nightmare had to get a decent days training in.

Out from Buxton, Glossop, Snake Pass and Edale. Last 20mi was hard.

Legs feeling pretty good - they should with an easy day yesterday.
