Lovely, sunny loop of Blackford pre Tiomila watching. It's so nice to not be confined to the meadows anymore :)

JK Relay - Minley
3rd

First leg for ESOC team of me, Rona and Sarah.

Good to 1 despite having to run straight past another split. But then got flustered as my control was a lot further down the hill than everyone else and was suddenly a long way back. Pushed hard across to 2 and made a massive error following everyone into the wrong split, then running straight past my control back to the path before eventually finding it. Unfortunately only people who had my number 1 went to my 2 so the whole line of people was heading to the other control as I was leading my split and both controls were on very similar pits/erosion gullies. But hey...should've read the map properly.

So this put me right at the back. Great...not a good start! Pushed hard over the next few controls to slowly reel people in. But with my lack of fitness at the moment, this was bound to catch up with me at some point. Caught Alice and WCOC just before the open and that's when I hit the wall. WCOC got away just before the spectator control but managed to hold off Alice to finish in 9th place, 4mins down on the lead.

Rona had a fab run to pull us up a couple of places then Sarah had an absolute stormer on last leg and managed to hold off Chloe to finish in 3rd place. We were all pretty chuffed about this, particularly after the injury troubles Rona and I have both had this year. :)
