Day 2 of the adventure. Nice downhill start from the B&B to the beach. Really cool path along some high dunes with little chutes to run down and more war bunkers. Really windy and raining as we ran past Dunstanburgh Castle so was glad to drop into the shelter of some cliffs before reaching Craster for some soup and cake.

Running 1:04:16 [3] 11.38 km (5:39 / km) +46m 5:32 / km

Really cold so we didn't hang round in Craster very long after leaving the cafe. Mostly on larger paths this time and with a very strong tailwind this run seemed to go fairly quickly. Still lots of time for playing pooh sticks, looking at rainbows and rock hopping though. Hip got quite sore on the final beach run to Alnmouth so was very glad to stop.

A very fun 2 days. Nice to do something different from orienteering and hill running for a change.

Was planning to do National Short Course XC but didn't get entered so went on a running adventure holiday with Jonny instead.

Ran from Bamburgh Castle to Seahouses. Lots of playing about in the sand dunes and on the rock platforms. There were tracks everywhere through the dunes so it was really fun to run all over the place!
Stopped at Seahouses for fish and chip lunch :)
1 PM

Running 1:22:40 [3] 14.3 km (5:47 / km) +72m 5:38 / km
shoes: Mizuno Enigma 2

After a reasonable break to let lunch digest, we continued running along the Northumberland coastal path to the B&B. Some fast beach running before heading back into the dunes, although these ones had grassy paths so they were a bit easier to run along. Had a good laugh when Jonny tried to jump a stream only for the bank to collapse just as he tried to leap, and he ended up faceplanting into the stream :)
Was starting to get quite tired towards the end of the run especially when we left the beach and started climbing up towards the B&B. Very grateful for the hot chocolate and cookies and warm house.

This was tough to get out the door to do in the dark by myself. And didn't get any easier once I got going. Legs felt very heavy...probably from all the cycling I've been doing and standing for 7 hours at work.
But glad it's done and times were consistent at least.
