Absolutely disgusting weather on my cycle home from work which put me off completely. So opted for my first ever treadmill session. Weather was actually not too bad by the time I walked to the gym and very nearly turned around but couldn't face a solo killing fields.

Quite scary running fast at first but quickly got the hang of it. Almost blacked out every time I stopped between the intervals though which was strange. Guess just from it being really hot inside and stopping suddenly rather than gradually slowing down?

Treadmills are pretty cool these days. Went for a lovely run round places in NZ - Franz Joseph glacier, Blue Pools, Auckland Domain, the Beehive and Mt Vic :)

Definitely overdone it this week. Was absolutely crawling along. Then my hips/butt and R knee all seized up coming down Turnhouse so could barely lift my legs. At this point Jonny had had enough of my snail pace and opted for a bonus hill up Castlelaw, whilst I crawled my way up the valley to the wedding stile. Kept going till Jonny caught me up then we both walked the rest of the way to the bus stop.

Decided to get out harder than I have the previous few races and go with Jill at the start. Was fun hooning down the first hill with Jill, Shona and I at the front...go trotters! YP was loving it! :) After the steep hill, Jill boosted off the front and I ended up running with Megan Crawford for the rest of the race. Legs/lungs started suffering a lot on the last long drag up to the top and let the gap stretch a bit too far to Megan ahead. But knew I had a couple of people right behind me so kept pushing hard to the top and once on the downhill, I was fine till the finish.

1st by Jill, 3rd by me, 9th by Shona and 12th by MeganW meant we completely dominated the team competition which was exciting (although all the top people were in Liverpool...)

Jonny came 3rd also...cute :D

On my own tonight and crazy strong wind made this tough. Cut the corner in the break between the 2nd and 3rd reps so I could at least start with the boys. Hanging off the back of a couple of guys by about 10 metres on the 4th and 5th, then ran with a guy on the last one.

Legs finally gave up trying to brace against the wind on the 5th, left quad was burning! Crazy the difference in pace running into the wind compared to with the wind.

Mass start, good fun! Thought I'd get instantly dropped by all the fast boys but was actually around lots of other people the whole way. Ended up running most of it with Callum W and a young Norwegian guy who was fast but kept running down dead ends. Lead them in to the last couple of controls but then got done on the 100m sprint at the end!

SOUL - Livingston

Started off far too fast as per usual for urbans, which was a terrible idea given how ill I've been all week. So died a horrible death over the second half of the course. Course was really simple with barely any routechoice which was disappointing as I'd been looking forward to doing my first race in Livingston (although I had mentally prepared myself for the dullness of urbans during the week).

Managed to lose 30secs on the forest control at the end where I decided to run along the path but turned out it was the slimy overgrown slipway for the dam. So had to bash my way through the brambles to get round.

All really tight racing at the top...just over 1min separating the top 5 (Roger, Me, Jon, Claire, Kirstin).
