Orienteering 50:50 [3] 8.0 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 2

Newcastle Orienteering NOY3 Southams Road- West
Body was pretty beaten up from yesterday's race, particularly a very tight left piriformis. Eased into the course with the first few controls which required some good compass work. Got smashed by Macey over the first 5 controls and was 5mins down after 20mins! Then we were pretty even for the rest of the course and I finished 2nd 4.5mins behind.
The terrain was much nicer than the newcastle maps around when I was growing up. I think I was still a bit conservative, like at the WOC Trials long distance trial last year that was on the map across the road.
Great turn out and it was good to see the Newcastle club putting on a great event, with SI and waterproof maps for $7!! Impressive.

MTB Cycling 23:07 [3] 7.42 km (3:07 / km) +36m 3:03 / km

Ride from mum and dads into Hawks Nest beach.

Running 49:04 [3] 6.56 km (7:29 / km) +281m 6:10 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 2

Run up Yaccaba, the headland near Hawk's Nest on the north side of Port Stephens head. Its a steep bugger and the sand was very soft. And the legs were heavy. But just perfect day to be outside. Had a swim, so warm!

MTB Cycling 29:05 [3] 8.15 km (3:34 / km) +72m 3:25 / km

ride home from Hawks Nest via a very nice and peaceful coffee in Tea Gardens.

Tea Gardens paddle in Prong's Evolution Edge. Paddled from the campground up Myall river from Hawks Nest, through Tea Gardens, and out into Port Stephens and around to Jimmy's beach. Awesome day, sunny, not much wind, tide going out. Was a bit tired by the time I made it out of the river and it felt a bit tippier in the chop of the bay.

morning long run with Morgan from the DIS.
Then train to Melbourne to see the sports cardiologist. Got a good report card on my heart which is good news. But still no definitive answer as to what happened in Bendigo.
Then flight to Newcastle for a few days with the folks in Tea Gardens.

Kayaking 1:20:04 [3] 12.83 km (6:14 / km) +35m 6:09 / km
shoes: Fenn Millennium

Had my interview for the Unit Attendant course (another step closer to the goal of Homer Simpson's job) this morning. Only 4 months after we applied....Good to finally get it out of the way though.
Then went for a paddle on a perfect windless day. Did 4 x 20/30/40/50/40/30/20 double stroke sets to keep it honest.

I was smashed when I got home from paddling. Had the greatest sleep on the couch in front of the fire and struggled to get up for a run. The weekend etc finally caught up with me.
Did a short warm up Monna Fartlek session. 4.71km. No better no worse. At least I'm consistent, and consistency is the key to getting fitter.

Post night shift post WOC trials day meant it was a pretty tired one. But got on the bike late evening for a lap of the block. Beautiful if cold night on the bike without much wind. I was thinking how much I love living in the DIS, before returning to a blackout. On the plus side it meant dinner was pizza from Churchill.
Legs had a few sore spots walking around but nothing significant on the bike.
