We tried organizing a weeknight event at Playfair Park, which is basically a recreational city park with ballfields, a high school campus, and the like. We only had a dozen people signed up coming into it, and I was pretty disappointed. We got a number of last-minute signups and ended up with 19 starts / 26 individuals out on courses, which probably is ok for a weeknight event at a city park. Still, I will try to do more outreach to the running community to see if we can attract folks to our next park event.

I always ask newcomers how they heard about us. One gentleman said that he hosts an AirBnB in Missoula, and his last tenants wrote in the guest book that they were going orienteering. He had heard of it 40 years ago and decided to look it up. And there he was! The tenants turned out to be Allie Ferguson's parents Polly and Michal, who were long-time SDO orienteers in the past. This is the second case of AirBnB hosts showing up to our events, as Darth Balter's host came to Lubrecht last month!

This event was low-key enough that each of me and Alli were able to get out on a course, and Inara went around with my parents. We did a Score-O this time, which I think was received positively by a number of folks. Might be a good format to stick with for park events.
