Distance ran: 5.87 km
Woke up with some discomfort in left hip and decided not to run this last event of the Park Race Series. Saw on the event website that British Orienteering ranking points were available and changed my mind (despite not knowing what British Orienteering ranking points are). Turns out you need to be registered with BOF to gain points so as of this evening I am a member of SLOW.
Enjoyed the race. I felt like I knew where I was on the map between controls more than in previous races. Ran past #12 but didn't lose as much time as I did on #17 where I left the road too early and had to go forward and then back through nettles. I should have pushed harder on the long stretch to #23; #24-F was a series of short, zigzagging legs that needed a bit more concentration.
Right knee pain post-race (see
injury report).
As for the series as a whole I am disappointed to have only managed to take part in 4 races but feel I have improved in both fitness and in using the map. %Δ from race winner in chronological order: 61%, 53%, 55%, 44%.
