Governor Bebb. Red course set by Ben Hart.

ARDF practice at Gov Bebb. Course set by cedarcreek.

I really need an opportunity to practice this in less familiar parks. In familiar places I don't use the map enough so I don't get good practice manipulating the map along with all the other gear.

Event: MVOC TROL Germantown East
 

Germantown East. Overshot number 1 and blew at least 30 seconds backtracking. Blew #2 way to the left and what was mapped as rough open turned out to be thick cedar scrub and thorns, lost another couple minutes. Rain on the glasses and fingers freezing were not helping matters. But after that awful start, I ran pretty clean, if not terribly fast.

I actually won the split on the longest leg of the day, surprisingly besting both Mintore and Aragorn when they each made rare major errors on that same leg.

Chilly drizzle throughout; lots of deadfall and scrubby vegetation.

The kids did well, winning the HS Varsity (green), HS Junior Varsity (orange) and Rookie (yellow) trophies. They will have their work cut out for them though in a couple weeks at the US Interscholastic Champs, when the real competition arrives.

Miami Whitewater. Setting controls, also updated the map for some vegetation and removed some indistinct trails that have disappeared. Cut some thorn bushes here and there. But competitors will only notice the ones I didn't cut.
